What did you do to your TJ today?

You know what you're getting into when you have someone with bodywork like on his jeep spot you. Send it!

What are you talking about, there's not a scratch or dent on that thing.

Cleaning an old intake to prep for cerakote. And these purple injectors arrived.

Cheaper to buy 8 than 6. But don't go putting them in your stock 4.0.

That's the rating (#24) of my 1996 Cherokee Sport injectors (stock). For anyone else looking, the 1996-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ's had 21-24lb/hr injectors rated for 49psi. If I remember, that should also be the same rating for the 2004+ TJ Rubicon's, where the rest of the TJs all had 22lb/hr injectors.

Well, crapola. I didn't know that, but now I do!

Learn something new every day. I'm wondering about the others yielding.
The better quality stainless hardware can be found at most marine supply stores. Stainless just isn't as strong as graded iron hardware. As mentioned . . . 30 ftlbs is too much for your application.

Went from a C-RES 1 to a C-RES 2

You would think with this being on the market for over 10 years they would’ve adjusted a fitment issues but no it’s still fits like shit! I’ll try readjusting after it’s been in the sun for a few days.

As flimsy as it was the C-RES 1 did have great fitment!

Did I buy the wrong radiator? The new one has oil cooler barbs in the backside of it, but I have no lines for that and the old rad has those ports blocked. Leave them & send it, plug them or send it back?
97 4.0 5 speed
Thanks

Today, my Jeep passed NYS Safely and Emissions Inspection

That’s big for me since I typically have evap or o2 codes that come and go.

I don’t usually worry about the inspection but maybe a few weeks ago when I first got it back on the road , just maybe I got a speeding ticket, and a no inspection ticket.

I tried to sell him a story but at 48 in a 30 he wasn’t buying.

He sent me on my way with a promise that if I got it to pass inspection and put the hood back on he’d reduce it to an infraction.

Therefore the inspection sticker is key.

Oh, first speeding ticket since ‘04.

Those new gears and well balanced tires had me enjoying the drive.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Unloaded from the forum Sand Hollow trip. Early departure forced by a dead battery indicating a bad parasitic draw and intermittent / malfunctioning switch panel controlling my lockers. Without lockers you have no chance with the trails the group was running.

Turns out the switch panel board was passing voltage through to the rear locker all the time, even with the Jeep was switched off and it is wired to be on only with ACC ON. I also found a loose nut on the positive line supplying power to the board, likely the root cause of the mess and why the panel lights cut out a few times on the trip and for the last time right as I was heading into the first obstacle on "The Fallen" trail.

10.6V on the tester is due to a run down battery. A replacement board is going in for the fix.

You were playing with your bunghole at lunch?(jk)

What are your plans for the eddy head? Hemi or LS valves? I definitely recommend bowl work as the castings are sloppy and you get big steps smaller behind the seats from what I've seen. Also heard that the valvesprings as delivered are hit or miss

For now, no. I certainly thought about going whole hog, but decided to go a bit different route. Just keeping it simple for now. Standard bore as my engine has only 80k on it and I know it's entire good service history, as it's been my jeep from day one. 0.027" Cometic head gasket to help increase compression to 9.78:1 without decking the block. The rest of the parts are a couple weeks out.

What I'm hoping comes out of this is significant increase in torque and power in the 2000-4000 rpm range. May or may not be a wash, but the stock size valve should help with intake velocity at lower RPMs and the head already flows far better from the mid to high rpm range thanks to the much improved exhaust ports over 0331 TUPY.

The cam(s) I want to use aren't available right now, so I'm going to keep going with my known good stock cam and lifters for a bit. There'll be meat left on the bone for sure. It'll also help me choose between a couple of similar cam options.

(Tough to tell from your hubble pics but...) Speaking from relevant experience — next time - at least drop 1 tac on that before you go back to work/watching kids/caring for a family member (you weren't specific).

Because next time you touch that pipe will not be to tac - it will be to move it out of the way for another reason and off goes the bung....

Otherwise - I like the hustle and looks like a quality job to the 'as of date' on the last pic.

;)
