You have a point there. I've been lucky. I'm in New Mexico, so no rust issues. So far I've only had the Auto trans hard shift issue causing a PCM replacement. Didn't stop me from obsessing though, I still think my Jeep needs other upgrades and I don't even go off road in it anymore. I swear, being a Jeep fanatic is some kind of mental disorder with no cure.
No ocd here, I’ve never obsessed over a vehicle. Maybe a few firearms over the years and of course my wonderful wife. I will say that my Tj did often occupy my thoughts as I planned it’s evolution from stock to a one of and did the mods that i was able to do but now that it’s coming together I’ll just move on to other projects. Repaint and touch up body work will be the next big thing. I want to replace rusty door latches, a cracked plastic gas bezel and upgrade my seats. Might add some bling yet but it’s a project to me....

When you CANNOT figure out why EVERYBODY doesn't drive one.
After 10 years of the same reasons being repeated, "you know you drive a TJ" when you keep reading these old threads about them and actually still like them. 
Driving my TJ is the same as racing motocross used to be for me. A way to relax and forget about all of life's problems. Although I don't get money or trophies for driving my Jeep. Ducks don't count. Motocross paid much better.

Well I have a new 1999 TJ..love it..about 3 months now...everything was great. But SLOWLY things are starting to act up..First, the air conditioning stopped working. I can see the compressor is not spinning. 2nd. All of a sudden my center console lock rotated(it did not rotate before) and now its stuck locked shut. I mean these are not big items...but I guess I was a bit lucky before..especially lock related stuff..I hate that.

When it runs quietly and smoothly and you feel like something must be wrong with it.
You know you owned a TJ for a while if the check engine light being off scares you more than when it's on.

When I first got my TJ..I bought and had shipped across the country...so I mean...I was test driving it out to see if I had made a big mistake...The first time driving it...I kept seeing this check engine light or something going off and on intermittently...and I thought GDAM.IT,,,first day engine light...but it was a weird symbol...I got out the manual..put on my reading glasses...its the light that goes on to tell you when to SHIFT gears...I have a manual 5 speed! And I thought...wow...how modern!
