What did you do to your TJ today?

Should have a busy weekend on the jeep ahead of the camping trip. No kids with me this time, so I'm planning to build a platform in place of the passenger seat rather than fighting with a tent. The wheeler formerly known as XJ Buddy built something that works pretty well, but it blocks off the glovebox and I'd like to not have that be the case. But we'll see what I can come up with using the scraps I have on hand. And assuming I won't be able to find used canvas doors in the next two weeks, I have to decide if I'm using the steel halves, and then if SOMEHOW I can store them in the jeep if I want to go doorless (which I want to do pretty much 100% of the time), but last year we got caught in massive rain so I'm a little cautious this time.

And then a new radio coming. Abbree AR-8118 for $79. Notarubicon raved about it esp for the price. I don't expect the antenna to be worth much, but all I really need is at most to be able to talk to the head/caboose of the train so it should be fine. At worst they'll hear me much better than the UV5R's we all carry, but I might not be able to hear them any better than I could before.

I closed on my house today, and the realtor i used gave me a $100 Amazon gift card. I'm using that to buy the polk audio DB6502/462 speaker package as part of the sound system upgrade I'm doing.

Down payment on a wedding ring!!!!!!! You gonna need help making a house payment and buying Jeep parts............just think how many cracker jack boxes $100.00 would buy.......bound to be a ring in one of them........ 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

That is awesome that you are buying a house at your age! That is a great way to build wealth.

I can send pics of my platform if you want.

I hope you're a small dude for this plan. I determined I am not small enough🤣

The crappy part IMO is the squeeze between the console and wheel well

Got the driver's side spring puck installed, would have done both but good lord it was hot as could be today. It's supposed to be some cooler next week so I will finish it then.

I took the factory one out and installed a 1.75, that should get rid of the rear to front rake.

Yeah, our idea was to build it up such that the platform was essentially at the top of the wheel well. That way there is storage underneath, and I don't have to move a bunch of crap to sleep on it. In reality I'll probably still have to move a bunch of crap to sleep on it, but I won't have to move ALL the crap.

I built mine on a platform like @hear describes. It works great, in theory. In reality, I built it 5 years ago and still haven't actually slept on it. 🤷‍♂️
