What did you do to your TJ today?

My new 5 Gallon fuel tank showed up today, and I was able to score it in the elusive OD Green! Its actually very well built, and it fits better than I thought it would in the roof basket. Now I can get a bit further down the trail carrying an extra quarter tank of gas.

I like that look and that its out of the way...but...how do you get it down from there?...Do you have to remove it to fill your main tank, or maybe siphon it using a rubber pipe the old gasoline mouthwash system ? lol

Installed some stock rubicon rocker guards on my LJ. Drilling through the tub was a bit nerve wreaking at first.. but turned out easy.

Lol, oh yeah you would remove it from the rack, unscrew the cap and there is a spout inside that you flip around and reconnect. Then you grab the whole thing and pour it in just like any other gas can. Not a big fan of the mouthwash system.

Haha, this thing is actually really heavy duty but I don't think I would use it as a skid plate! It comes from Hong Kong so i'm sure their wording is slightly off, especially after reading some of the warnings on it. It does have all 5 star reviews too, so we'll have to test it out and report back.

Not at all, and its more like 45-50lbs filled, since its 5 gallons and a gallon weight a touch over 8 lbs, plus the 5lbs of the container itself. In the back of my basket where it will most likely live, it sits directly over the rear crossbar. That alone is supporting the weight and not flexing the "landing pads". If I had it in the front for example, where it is not directly over a crossbar, it may actually flex the mounts a touch, but I am very impressed with my whole rack system so far and i've carried a ton up there with no problems. I've even stood in my basket and I weigh 180lbs. I would not hesitate to load it out with 150 of gear and baja, some might even go more!

Is there a reason people leave their shackles on the bumpers then use isolators so they don't hear them rattle? Mine are in a duffle bag with all my recovery gear. Just curious. Thanks.

Actually, gas weighs in at 6.2 lbs per gallon, whereas water weighs in at around 8 lbs. I remember being surprised by that information when I read it. So you're actually better off than you thought you were!

I had no idea, but yeah that is better yet...good deal! Honestly I was thinking to myself that loading a 50lb item up above my head onto the roof might be tricky, but man 30lbs and some change is much more manageable.

And how did u get the dealer to ship u the parts?
I pre paid at a jeep dealer for a CPK sensor they had to get from another dealer. They refused to mail to me. Had to make a special trip once the part arrived at the dealer

Those fender flares are just begging for some larger tires to help fill the void! As much as I like the stock flares, those come in a close second. Very nice!
