Heat is good, but I believe he has already stripped the head. It may still help though

There is thread lock on the bolts. Heat loosens the compound, and they spin right out. Stripped head or not...use some heat.
I am with you on that. Maybe trying a little while keeping your hand around the area to constant check to make sure you arnt getting it too hot.
A buddy of mine suggested it too. The problem I'm also having is the extractor screw bit has also snapped off while I was drilling in.
use a screwdriver, put it in the hole, and heat the screwdriver. It will transfer the heat. Doesn't take much, its blue Locktite. You might be able to use a heat gun even. Don't think a hair dryer will do it
Hi Nuggsfan, I have the same mirrors, but they didn't fit on the windshield mount. I had to actually install them down on the lower mount. I thought if I enlarged the holes, I could bolt them up higher. Everything looks the same with mine except the actual mirrors. Your mirrors look like older CJ mirrors. I like yours better. Did you change the mount to mount it on the top of the windshield mount, and did you used different mirrors, or do you just have actual different mirrors than me. (I have rectangle ones) I mean do you have a link to what mirrors you actually have?

They are actually for a CJ 7, but the holes lined up fine for my application and it made them sit a bit higher. I am 6'5" and they seem to work great at this height. The only issue I have with them at all is the driver side mirror has a strange whistle at speeds above 30 mph. I just turn the radio up enough to not hear it! [emoji23]

Now here for a possible solution. When I bought my mirrors, I was reading the reviews for them and someone suggested putting clear silicone on the back side of the mirror between the rubber and the mirror. I am not sure if your grommet goes around to the back, but if you can squeeze some clear silicone in there it maybe possible to get rid of the whistle. I did it to mine and it seems to have worked for me, but I have the rugged ridge actual tj aftermarket mirrors, but I like yours a ton better. I will probably change mine out again.
They were cheap enough I considered them disposable. I see the gap you're talking about though, and will try that tonight

Can't remember how many times I do use mine on those torx bolts.
I know this is an old thread, but can you see the passenger mirror with the doors on? That was my problem with relocation brackets, they worked great with the doors off but with them on I couldn't see the passenger mirror.

The way I have mine mounted, I can see half of the mirror with the doors on. If I had hard doors, I’m sure I could see more. I only use soft doors, so the black area around the window is much wider. The half I see is from the top right corner to the lower left corner and down
