What did you do to your TJ today?

The TJ has drawn first blood! Dragon ball shift knob, and blind spot monitoring  Oh and BASS

JakeQ = 3 Jeep = 1

I'm waiting on a 3k check.

When I bought it in January, I had planned on going slow and only fixing things that needed fixing and then slowly, build it up the way I want it. Made pretty good headway on mechanical stuff, but still had (and have) some other mechanicals left on the list. My grandmother passed away this past winter, and my parents told me last month that there was a CD she had for me, that was up for renewal, or letting it ride, or reinvesting somewhere else, or.........33s and a lift.

It wasn't exactly put that way to me, but I said a prayer and thanked my Grandmother. She would have been 100 next month. An achievement like that would deserve something special. Like 33s and a lift....

;)

replaced the valve cover gasket today. mostly no issues. as others have noted, the wiring harness at the firewall is a pita.
And the reason I was more than happy to pay the $125 for a shop to do it. And of course, having someone else to blame and redo the work if it leaks is an added bonus! :)

Well my friends, I finally took care of a small project that I've been thinking about. I removed, cleaned, sanded and painted the tailgate door lock cover. I also cleaned the locking mechanism and used some white lithium grease on it.

Came out great!! Thanks for posting this as it gave me something else to paint purple on my Jeep. Never thought of painting that cover. LOL :D

Threw on a new Rampage sailcloth trail top with tinted windows for laughs and giggles. Still waiting on a tailgate bar to be delivered to button it completely up. It’s 92 degrees outside so it stretched out with ease during installation with me sweating all over it. I’ll let it air out for a few days, then wipe it down with some 303 to help it last. The top was missing the two rods that keep water from pooling over the front seats, and the two pieces of foam that go over the door surrounds. I hope to be able to get those from Rampage, so I can run it as it was designed to be, although it may not be a big deal. Quality is already showing as well. It has a seam seal pulling away right over the drivers seat, and after a small test it leaks badly. Dammit Jimbob!

What a beautiful Jeep. Wish mine was that new. What third brake light is that?

My son had my Jeep out with the new Rampage top on it. And it was leaking in at least two places too. I still need to double over the fabric on the header. And re screw it down. Long story. It's only screwed in with one layer of the fabric. Pretty sure it needs to be doubled over. Hasn't been hot enough to work on. So I think that's affecting the fit overall. Plus I'm not sure there's a good seam between full doors, surrounds and soft top.

Thank you. It ain’t new though, as it has a little over 180k on it. The third brake light above the spare is a cut down version of the original. The one below the spare is one of those types that fit in the receiver hitch. Yes, I have four brake lights. Having been hit from behind multiple times before (I used to have a red pickup), I want no excuse of “I didn’t see that you were braking.” Being the OCD guy that I am, I like to polish my vehicles a lot.
I took the Rampage too off today and tried to gently iron the seam seal tape back in place. It must have been made late in the day on a Friday. The tape was placed too crooked to work. So I went and bought some clear gorilla glue and glued the seam down, then covered the entire seam with a waterproof adhesive used for tents, awnings, and canopies. Once that drys, I’ll put it back on and check it again. For the missing foam pieces I have a .98 pool noodle I cut up. As for the missing rods, I’ll probably use some painted black 1/2” pvc pipe, or something. I like the way the top looks, but it’s almost worthless if it leaks.

This is a big ask. But it would be cool to see pics of how you did that with your brake light. The cut down version.

Can't you take the top back and exchange it? That sucks that your having to do so much to it.

Not a problem at all. I have a swing out type carrier for my spare, so when I took the one off the tailgate I had to figure out how to remount it. The base was too long from front to back, and it was angled wrong because the swing out mount is flat on top, and not angled like the original. I hung the spare and measured where the rim and tire was in relation to the mounting holes, drew a line, and ran it through my band saw. I took off a little at a time until it fit snug, then angle cut pieces of pvc pipe to go between the base of the light and the top of the carrier. It may appear to be a little tall looking at from the side, but the sight angle over the width of the tire from the rear makes it look correct to traffic behind me.
I got the top from a friend, who’s son wrecked his TJ. He hadn’t even taken it out of the box yet. He sold it to me cheap, so no return is available to me. The missing parts I consider a small issue. I repeatedly tried to contact Rampage to get the right parts, but their customer service seems to be lacking. I even have an authorized dealer close by, and they couldn’t get anyone to help.

Here you go. This is before winch. Fenders are stock. Wheels stick out about an inch or so.

Thanks, yours looks like what I’m trying to achieve. I’m just torn though trying to decide between 10.5 vs 12.5 tires.
I too have a 2” lift and I’ve decided that I’m not going any larger than 31” tires.
Appreciate the picture, it looks real nice!

Which bumper/tire carrier is that? I have an EAG from Amazon and the carrier locking mechanism runs into my license plate.
Barricade, or Fishbone, I think. It’s just like most others out there. The locking mechanism on it clears everything fine but I am going to have to figure out a way to lock it. Went to a store the other day and came out to it opened, when I know it wasn’t when I went in. I know it didn’t bounce itself open because it’s solid as hell and doesn’t move or wobble at all. The carrier part doesn’t touch any of the bumpers at all, so I’ll have to fix that too I guess.

Do they even make 31x12.5x15? I’ve never seen someone with that size tire width at 31”

Well, I stand corrected! [emoji1787] I guess my decision has been made. I’ve looked at so many options for so long I confused myself.

Interco tires.

Bogger, thornbird, Irok

They’re awesome in the mud, but loud and mediocre on the street.

Most buy them for their aggressive look and put them on jacked up trucks (usually a truck a kid’s parents bought for them and they want it to look cool). .
