Anyone like Blues music?

I have to admit that I'm a bit new to Blues music, but after discovering it I'm absolutely hooked. Hands down this has to be my favorite music genre ever. Now if I only I had a record player to listen to it on, it would just sound so perfect, especially in that pre-stereo, mono sound.

Elmore James, Chuck Berry, Little Walter, Muddy Waters, and a few others are on my playlist. I seem to like the upbeat stuff a little more than the mellow stuff (Chuck Berry comes to mind as much more upbeat Blues). While I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, early Fleetwood Mac (before they changed their sound), and several others, I think my real love lies with the Blues sounds of the 60s and earlier (most of the stuff I'm listening to seems like it was 40s or 50s).

Anyways, I'm looking for more recommendations on Blues artists I might be missing out on. As mentioned, I like Blues Rock (if it's good), but the older stuff is really more my style.

With that being said, give me your suggestions for Blues artists / albums I should own!

Absolutely, yes. I dig all kinds of music depending on mood. All the ones you listed are good plus BB King, some Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, even some Kid Rock.

I was raised listening to blues and bluegrass because of my dad. When he was in college at the University of Illinois, one of his jobs was booking blues and folk music groups to come down there - one of his favorites was Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.
I definitely suggest listening to their music, it's OG true blues.

Also, definitely check out Koko Taylor, James Cotton, and Little Walter! Really good stuff.

Yeah I love me some good blues, I grew up listening to old jazz and it wasn't much of a reach to get into old blues. I've seen a couple good blues groups, my favorite being BB King who I got to see up close a couple times. I pretty much like any good music but I love older jazz and blues.

I really miss going to Burbanks BBQ in Cincinnati. They always had old school blues playing, and I believe it was on Tuesdays that they had open mic night. Had lots of local blues talent that would jam for hours.

I also enjoy Jazz as well! It's easy to like both Jazz and Blues since they're similar.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... absolutely check out Buddy Guy!!!
Some seriously good Chicago blues legend action!
I've seen him *many, many times* at his club in Chicago. Super nice guy too!
Ask BB King who he likes, and Buddy will be at the top of the list

Totally agree. It's hard to find good music these days.

When I listen to a lot of this older music it almost sounds better in mono than it does in stereo. Maybe I'm just crazy...
