But I found a great deal on Craigslist for an alloy USA 4340 kit with a Detroit locker for 400 bucks... is it really worth the extra 700 bucks to get the revolution? I’m running 33s
Has someone posted that pic of the grooves worn into the cromoly Dana 35 shaft?
The issue with the 4340 shafts is that they will excessively wear where the axle-shaft bearing rides on them.
Honestly it’s still cheaper for me to buy the kit and Detroit locker this guy has for 400 and then upgrade to the revolution shafts later when I recover financially. How big of a job is it to replace an axle shaft if I install the 4340 now and upgrade to the revolutions later?
Can wear, not will. A talented heat treater can make them work, there just aren't many out there that know how.
As easy as removing a Dana 35 axle shaft. If the numbers add up, then why not?
I'd still buy the cheap kit and save up for the Revo shafts and install them later.
That's the wrong alloy for a Dana 35,you want it to be 1541H. At least eventually.
Dutchman axle can help. They sell the 35 axles and are 1541H. May be worth a price comparison.
