Come back to Earthy, buddy. Relying on GPS doesn't mean that "kids these days" don't have common sense. When power goes out, batteries fail, etc., they can still stop and ask for directions like everyone else.

Oxymoronic at best. If everyone else is asking for directions, who will have directional information? And again, I have been balls deep in situations where asking for directions was not an option. Its not really common sense that they lack, I find that critical thinking skills have been greatly diminished since the advent of the smartphone. Our opinions differ on many things in this post, but I would have to admit that you have used critical thinking, as have others here that have differences of opinion. Once that diminishes to a critical point, (we won't know what that point is until we as a society arrive there) there will no longer be discussions to trade ideas, just insults.

I mean, the trading of Ideas is why this post is 13 pages long, right? It may go on until next Columbus day.

I know there are a few players here active in the conversation, but I wonder how many members are following along with the discussion verses the ones who have blocked it from their feed . I know I have sent the link to several friends to mull over when they have a few free minutes to waste.

Oh, I'm sure we've had plenty of people roll their eyes and ignore this thread long ago, but I love finding people with different perspectives and I really wish more people would do more of it. I think it's good to stay well practiced engaging with people you disagree with in ways that stay civil.

I mean, as you know, I'm no fan of Trump and I started to get riled up over his comments recently about saying that the impeachment stuff was akin to a "lynching", but it was good for me to realize that Biden had said the same thing during the Clinton impeachment stuff. There's been a lot of moments like this, particularly as I've talked with so many people on these forums with more conservative perspectives.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!!!! I promised myself I was going to bow out earlier, but I cant remember the last time I have had a political discussion of differing opinions that did not revert almost instantly to "talking points" and then name calling shortly there after. I know plenty of things that Trump says are moronic, but I don't think the man is a moron. Narcissist - sure, tax avoidance -probably, dealt with NY mob - probably had to in order to get concrete, likes to get peed on by Russian prostitutes - don't care. All I want is for those screaming about him now to also scream when the other side is in power. I would also like conservatives to admit that republicans do the wrong thing and for liberals to admit that some democrats are corrupt. (also that MLK Jr was a Republican and Trump was not the first to say MAGA)

Maybe I should wish for the more attainable "world peace."

Celebrating Columbus Day is similar to celebrating Bill Cosby and Joe Paterno- men who did amazing things, but were seriously flawed. We should remember them, but not elevate them to any sort of pedestal.

I'll never really understand why people went after Paterno. Hate for Penn State? Wanting to bring down a successful coach? I doubt he knew a damn thing about what went on, he just tied this crap to deep pockets so people could make money. People act like he was in some shower or something. I doubt it. Oh, I am not a Penn State fan and really could care less about college football, but the lynch mob stuff is scary as hell. Anyway, he is dead. I think he probably lived a pretty clean life, but the media loves to bring anyone down successful it seems.

Sadly, the court of public opinion is seen as a legitimate prosecutorial decision maker these days with consensus being a valid guilty verdict. I don't understand either.

I personally find it hard to believe that he knew nothing, but I also realize that it is quite possible he did not. Without proof, it's all just speculation. I have not seen any evidence that he knew, but I also haven't spent much time researching.

Idk, did they? I found the whole situation quite disgusting,but even though I'm a huge college football fan, I would rather follow the games than the scandals. Real football is played on Saturdays and I don't care much for the NFL. And no, it wasn't Kap. I was boycotting them way before the Kap thing. The NFL may be by far the most corrupt non profit aside from the Clinton Foundation.

1. cargo plane with pallets of cash (euros so it could not be traced) sent to our enemy.
2. Abandoning and leaving to die, American diplomats and soldiers to terrorists over running an American embassy (American soil).
3. Allowing his secretary of state to sell majority uranium holdings to Russia.
4. Smuggling small arms to known criminals in southern countries that get used to kill American border agents.

The list can just go on forever. Dont get started on FISA warrants issued to undermine political opposition based on false information from foreign operatives....

I put it all aside and just look at my own wellbeing over the years.

Regan years. Started working, jobs were plentyful.

George H. Work was going great. Making advancements. No cares.

Slick Willy. Company I was with for years went bankrupt. Found work. Lower wages. Struggled a bit.

George W. Work picked up. Many offers. Regular raises and bonuses. Bought toys, bought house, increased savings.

Barry O. Work crashed. Struggled. Bounced around taking jobs I could get. Wages dropped severely. Drew unemployment a few times.

Trump. Back in the game. Jump to 6 digit salary range.

If I ignore all political bickering and just look at my personal gains in life, it is an easy choice of how to vote.

I mean he was pretty underground, but mostly known for being the guy who got up on stage naked, took a dump, and threw it at the audience. He did some absolutely terrible stuff in his personal life as well, but that wasn't really much of a surprise like it was for the rest of the people mentioned as in GG's case, it was directly in line with his public life.

Kinda sounds like a group that might have an agenda, right?

Those should be big warning signs that you're dealing with some highly biased media. When you also look and see that the only other places mentioning that poll are other lesser-known, far right biased media sources that should also let you in on when you're being fed a story by people who are leaning heavy on an existing narrative.
