Why are so many oppose to putting a jack on the hood?

I wouldn't help.
I'd proceed to put my safety equipment on including goggles, then stand back and record it
I would help and make sure that no one gets hurt. I tend to wheel in places where no one is getting to the trail head in a hurry for an trip to the ER. That and if I saw you doing that shit, by the time I got through chasing you off with the jack handle, you may begin to rethink your assessment of doing the right thing which in this case is to take that fucking phone and stuff it up your butt.

I don't think jacks flying off the hood is an issue. I think, especially with lifted vehicles, trying to finagle something that heavy, at that height, at arms length(ish) is not ideal. It seems like It would be hard to do in a parking lot, let alone in an awkward trial position.
Just my 2 cents.

Hey bud , please read where I mentioned my own hi lift jack.

I was never putting anyone down , and rarely do .

And no , I don't run a snorkel and never will , because I'm not running my nice little TJ through water deeper than necessary .

It's my Jeep , and I can do/not do whatever I want with it , and so can can anyone else with theirs.

My posts are generally courteous and respectful , and yours need to be .

And find any "advice " in my above posts.

It's called Freedom of Speech .

Thanks Blaine .

"Only when a fly lands on testicles do we learn the true meaning of non violent solutions to problems"
The only area there is an issue with is the Freedom of Speech part. This is a private forum. The rules of conduct are governed by the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed up and as such there is no Freedom of Speech. Chris is fairly lax in what we can and can't get away with but I promise you there are lines that will not be crossed with impunity.

Edited .

Also , I hope it's not the TJ in avatar he's hating on...that aren't mine.

Again , thanks , I'm still lost as to what provoked that attack ... I try to be more careful than usual, which is probably not very careful to start with , when it comes to vehicle accoutrement choices that folks tend to have strong opinions about .

if someone wants to slam somebody for slamming something they need to go find somebody that is slamming someone first and kiss my happy butt.

Sorry blaine, I was going off of how you act on here, but maybe you are seasoned in...I respect that... I wont do it again.

Sir the person you need to be apologizing to is me.

There is only one Blaine , and you know why he can? Because what a famous baseball player once said ...it ain't bragging if you can do it . And moreso , because he speaks with the heart of a teacher , not the jaw of an ...... .

It's not that what you said is untrue, it's that it was horribly off base based on my earlier posts .

It was ridiculous.

You can blame me if you like as long as you understand I don't really set the best example of how to behave and if Chris cleans house one of these days, you're going down with me.

Blaine does not set the tone on this forum that this is a free-for-all.

He speaks with the heart of a teacher...and sure he may slap people around from time to time... And usually when he does they are asking for it.

And I really don't mind getting what's coming to me... When it's deserved.

But when someone hauls off and says something that ugly, and try to prove their point with someone doing something stupid in a TJ to show how smart they are...they are wrong .

Please AndyG post a video of your pro built jeep driving through the same depth of water and not hydrolocking.... Lets see it... pro... I am serious I expect a video of it on here tomorrow.

I've gone through water like that to submerge the headlights. Snorkel not needed. Take a look under the hood and see where the airbox inlet is positioned.

Hey, since we have this great focus group here, what do you think about the A.R.B. Jack? Kind of pricey in my book.

I think it looks fantastic and I would certainly secure that sucker if I carried it because it looks like it would be attractive to a thief

Of course what do I know......

Agreed, I've only seen a couple and they were on rigs that most likely wouldn't see a trail, but you can't judge a book by its cover. unless its a book about book covers, then they better dam well have an impressive cover if they want someone to buy such a stupid book.

Be careful , it's open season on jack haters . Or even people that mention Jack's in a pleasant , non biased and professional manner .

He strongly disagrees. In fact, as a partner in Tough Stuff Products who made one of the first if not the first hood specific mounts for the Hi Lift, they were the number one selling product for many years. Thousands of them and there was not a single reported incident of them flying off the hood any direction for any unintentional reason.

Out of curiosity, is that the only brand out there, or are there shitty Chinese knock offs as well?

I deleted the post above from the new guy.

Please don't come to this forum and make your first post be a direct attack on another member. There's no need for that, and it's absolutely unnecessary. We may not all agree with each other, but that response was clearly not the way to handle a disagreement.

In regards to the "Blaine is an asshole" argument, if you've been around Jeep forums long enough, you know this is a given. However, Blaine has an elegant way about being an asshole, and if you read into it, I'd almost say there's a dash of dry humor sprinkled throughout.

Anyways, carry on (y)

Same. And I consider anything impressive I've done with my Jeep as squarely middle of the road.

My TJ came with a jack mounted on the hood. It was very securely mounted on the hood hinges. I hated everything about it out there and took it off the day I bought my TJ. I am not sure of using it. My TJ had a 5.5" lift and huge tires, so maybe it would work? Don't know, but others seem to know they may not be the best idea. I also don't like something on my hood as it just looks bad in every way. If I for some reason had to have one, I would mount it on the rear bumper, not the hood. There is enough weight up front of our TJ's and I prefer a clear view of whats ahead.

I don't mind the look of a snorkel and don't care if someone has one. Whatever people want to do to THEIR Jeeps. I find judging people harshly is odd, but it is done often here IMHO. I have been on the receiving end of it even after I apologized for my ignorance on a subject. Whatever. Some people live in a more angry state and like to feel superior or whatever all that is.

My TJ has a mount on the hitch carrier and I own one .

I'm still just really lost ...I'm with the above post ...and all my prior posts were neutral and respectful..I was even pointing out how people do what you just said in any vehicle enthusiast group .

I have never seen anything like that on here when it wasn't at all provoked .

Then when someone starts trashing your "build " .. I don't have a build , I have a TJ, and I fixed a few things and kept it like it was , works great, looks cool , everyone loves it .

So am I bothered by all that ? Yes, I sure am . I'm a good guy on here , and that is on purpose . I love Jeeps and I love people that love Jeeps .
They are fun . Jeeps are awesome . This forum is awesome, because it has great Jeep people on it .

That is really why I'm here . Keeps my Jeep Buzz going .
