Who says the rear sway bar limits flex?

Found an asphalt "ramp" today and thought, "That looks perfect to flex on."

Not nearly max flex, but I did notice a couple things. I'm running an Anti-rock on the loosest setting. My bump stop in the rear was starting to compress the bumper, but I was still an inch or so away in front. That tells me an Anti-rock, on the loosest setting, is still stiffer than the rear sway bar.

I just don't understand why people take them out...

You dont have enough rear bumpstop extension to protect the rear shocks with the 2" aluminum unless the collapsed shock length is less than 14".
The front Rubicon Express disco's dont have enough misalignment to keep them from binding if your front shocks are longer than 24".

Good eye! You're right, so I installed Bar Pin eliminators to move the top mount up an inch or so. Having a body lift makes so much more room for neat tricks like that. I'm also only using the RE discos right now because I've been lazy and haven't cut my Currie links to the right size.

Sometime this year, when this Corona Virus madness is over, I'd like to make some changes to my suspension. Been watching the Jeeps West page on FB and we've messaged a couple times about Geometry correction brackets. I'll send you a PM to pick your brain about 3" springs with 12" shocks here in the not too far future.

To answer your original question, seems just about everybody in the TJ support Facebook groups thinks they limit flex.
 
Makes you wonder how they determined this.

My guess would be cycling the suspension on jack stands. It doesn't take much discussion to figure out they usually have no comprehension of suspension dynamics. The same crowd that told me something was wrong with my Jeep if my front track bar could touch my diff cover, and the same crowd that checks their bump stops by lifting one corner with a forklift with springs installed.

Looks like the Gate Keeper at Calico Ghost Town...
Calico's Gatekeeper is much (!) tougher. That photo is from Devil's Canyon in Imperial County just off the I-8 freeway roughly 60-70 miles east of San Diego. Devil's Canyon is indeed a tough trail but still not as tough as the Gatekeeper.

I'll know in about a week how the savvy 3" springs are going to match 12" travel fronts. The 21" freelength is only good for a 25" extended length shock in stock mounts. I suspect I'll be putting 11" up there instead. The rear are 17.5". No problem getting 12's on 2" bumpstops there.

About 46" connected on both ends, a little over 48" with the passenger front and rear links off. Tj is completely bare. Add some weight in there and moving on a trail, the forklift flex isn't exactly all we get.

Antirock front, soft setting, stock rear with 11" links, 14" fox on all four corners tuned by #fullstackmotorsports.
3.5" mc springs with cross of mmid/short arms. 95" wb at ride height. 35" tires
