Im down to meet ya there next trip you take. Trying to get a couple friends to head down, but everyone's got crazy schedules. Always nice to trail w another Jeeper or two.

Today (and as usual) a simple job turns into a bigger one when I worked on my TJ. :smash2: All I was doing was checking for rust under the front plastic shield in front of the grill.....4 bolts and it should come straight off, a 5 min job right ??? hahaha Nope...Broke 2 of the 4 bolts (due to rust) after getting everything ready for drilling out the bolts my drill decided it had enough and died. (RIP)
Ended up going down the road to the hardware store buying a new drill and hammer drill combo (good excuse to get more tools) 3 hours later the job was done hahaha...just another day, I love my Jeep.:thumbsup:

Call off the dogs...not everyone gets to subject their TJ to bring trashed off road to prove their worth as a TJ owner...

Trust me, In hindsight, I wish I didn't lift my Jeep and throw 33's on it - I wish I kept it near stock and in pristine shape. Too much of a perfectionist for what I've done to my Jeep.

However, I'm happy that the scratches and wear I have put on my Jeep have been from taking it off road, and not from simply not caring about my vehicle, like I see all too often on other cars.

Drove it to South Padre Island for spring break... put my hood lock on it and armed it. Keeping an eye on it through out the night.

replaced front diff output seal. Going to replace 20 year old muffler with a thrush welded muffler.

Decided to investigate a clunk in the rear, found one of the upper control arms jam nut was loose. That was an easy fix.

I understand why they try to throw in the "protection plan" - but how are they even supposed to replace an item that's disposable in the first place? At the 3 year mark, someone could just rip them off and email them and say "My gasket is leaking, I need a new one". It just doesn't make sense.

Today on my "new to me Jeep" I did a major inspection. There where a couple of rattles underneath the Jeep that I didn't hear during the test (on smooth roads). On a dirt road near my house this thing sounded like a coffee can full of marbles! Found numerous loose bolts and nuts; the two worst areas were both rear bottom shock mounts, and all three driver's side skid plate mounts. Sounds solid now.

Heck for ~7 bucks I would have bought the protection plan and then in three years got a new one and serviced my diff.

Lol, honestly I did that a few times in high school with the replacement plan I got on my stereos from Best Buy, when it came near the 2 year expiration mark, I'd just bring it in and say "it doesn't work, I need to exchange it for a new one", they'd never have the model I was returning, being it was 2 years later, and I'd get an automatic upgrade. Finally stopped the cycle with a Sony Stereo, and it was a good call, the things still running strong 12 years later.

I used regular oven cleaner on a warm engine to cut all the grease then power washed it. To get everything looking pretty I used Chemical Guys — Black on Black Spray. This spray does not dry sticky so no problems afterwards with dust or anything.

That looks amazing.

Please share exactly what you did? Was it a spray oven cleaner - and then did you cover up the alternator, the air intake, the differential air tube; what else?
