While I had installed a set of MORE 1" MMLs on my previous TJ, I had to go look on my present TJ bought used 8-9 years ago... I just this minute discovered that it has Currie's 1" motor mount lifts on it.

Yeah. I bought it with the 35's, and while I loved the look it was just too much Jeep for our trails (as in nothing was much of a challenge) and was terrible on the street. So I toned it down and made it more practical. It still goes everywhere it did with the 35's but it's much more live able on a day to day basis. Still have yet to use the winch for myself.
Others suggest prepping and painting your flares. Correctly done will last a long time. Easy and cheap and looks great
I forget who it was..but I took their advise and swapped out the RC nitro shocks, with a new set of Rancho RS5000X's for a little under $200, from Morris4X4. plus Rancho is giving a $50 visa card back on the purchase. So total is $150 for all 4.
I have to admit, its a noticeable improvement on street ride. I would say probably 35-45% better. If i can get that percentage even higher with a quality coil/spring combo, I would really be a happy camper! But for now its better than tolerable. Buys me some time at least to get my ducks in a row before pulling the trigger on a new package.

JeepN..Didnt know it until i was paying for the shocks..but Morris4X4 is doing their annual Jeep Event this saturday 10am-3pm

On a side note, been meaning to do it the other day, I just ponied up the $25 to help support this site. A ridiculously small price to pay for all the good info, and money to be saved, and future aggraVAtion that will be certainly avoided down the road!

After a few days driving I think my 5000x shocks feel a little better even. It's not what I dream about when I think of the perfect ride, but it's much better than it was before. My next round of shocks will be significantly more expensive, likely custom tuned Fox shocks with remote reservoirs but that is quite a ways out. These will probably be around for a few years.
Ok good, that's certainly not going to make a ride stiffer than it needs to be.
Thankfully not lol. It's just too hard to get in & out of, not to mention its tires are just too expensive to use on a daily basis.
I run Bilstin shocks with my Rubicon's express 4" springs. Dollar for dollar, I will never run a different spring on this Jeep. The ride is amazing. Even before the bilstin shocks it was a smooth ride. With this combo, I feel like I am driving a lifted Cadillac!
If you are ever in Denver, let me know. You can go for a ride to see what I mean, and I love to take visitors on trail rides.
Just take the lift off completely and return it to stock height with Bilstein shocks and Metalcloak fenders. Put on 35s and new gears and you'll be all set.

You know, I was bouncing that idea a while back. The fenders aint cheap, and then I thought it would probably need a brake upgrade for the 35's. and the re-gear. Other than that I think it would be a pretty nice looking DD
