I have that same Dewalt impact and I'm happy with it. I don't use it every day though, or even weekly for that matter. I used it when putting my lift on a couple years ago and still had 1/2 of a battery charge when done. I didn't use it to completely tighten hardware though, just got them almost tight and used wrenches and a torque wrench to finish it up. It broke loose control arm bolt very easy. It breaks lug nuts loose easily too.
The cons for it to me are it pretty heavy (maybe most are, I don't know, I've never had another battery powered one, and its pretty big and could be a tight fit in some areas I would imagine, especially with a deep well socket.

The ratchet is still very useful. I use the old one, non fuel, it’s a lot smaller.
I thought that's what I said, "the stubby will struggle." I was trying to suggest it wasn't good for those heavy duty jobs. I guess mentioning the battery was a mistake, I agree with what you have said.
I'm 4 pages late and never had a Milwaukee impact but every Milwaukee I ever had was great and my former diesel mechanic son said there's no impact that's better. Then, for some reason, he stole my extra battery.
Both, the impact and the ratchet are worth owning. Not at first though.

It gets the job done, good for a diyer like me. I would have gotten the mid torque m18, but I also got a 3/8 ratchet which uses m12 batteries.
It's not that's its weak or doesnt meet its spec torque rating.
I think the main issue is that it struggles to bust fasteners that are seized. I got a breaker bar for that. Slows me down a little, but I'm not operating as a pro.

I picked one of the popular brands of cordless tools and they have done everything I've asked of them. It shall remain nameless. If one of the other brands has a particular tool that's a bit better, that's fine, but it's not enough to want me to stock up on different batteries.

i have both Milwaukee and Ridgid battery tools, i use my ridgid 1/2" impact for everything. i want to get the 3/8's too but i have other things i need to buy. If i had to do it over again i'd however just buy all Milwaukee tools.
Looks like you made up your mind but, I have the Makita set you reference in your first post. I like it a lot but, rarely use it. Too big. I agree with others a stubby and ratchet would be better and I don’t believe that’s available using the 18volt Makita batteries
This 1/2 Milwaukee fuel Mid Torque has handled everything I've thrown at it and is lighter than the big boy. This was recommended previously on the forum. Highly recommend it.

I know that the decision has been made, but I figured that I would answer your question. I have the Makita linked above, but it wasn't purchased as a Jeep tool and I think I have only used it on the Jeep a few times. I have not used any other battery powered 1/2 impacts, so don't have anything to compare it to but the Makita has worked as intended for the last three years. I also have a Makita 3/8" impact, and it has been far more useful than the 1/2".
I only went with Makita because I already had plenty of batteries and chargers for them.

That isn't a ratchet. That is a right angle driver. A ratchet has the direction change in the head so you can actually use it as a ratchet both ways. If you try with that one, the tool turns, the fastener does not.
That’s what sucks about these tools, the batteries. I bought the Bosch portable stereo many years ago and it came with a couple batteries so eventually I bought some tools but Milwaukee has the better product line options and are easier to get.
So I decided to start getting the M12 fuel items that I wanted and the Bosch stuff is barely used now. Now with @mrblaine talking about the right angle impact, I want one of those too, I didn’t know it existed.
I've liked my M12 stubby a good bit, but I'm also not a very heavy user. I've only used it for removing my sliders, swapping around bumpers, and some other small tasks. It is fairly small which is nice for storage in the Jeep but it doesn't have the power you'd want in an everyday garage impact.
I also have a rigid 1/2" but haven't really been impressed with it. I wouldn't buy it again.

It is a fairly new release. Hasn't been around very long. It is one of the few I paid retail for since I wanted it. Very few of the others have been acquired at retail price. My neighbor I mentioned above is now Mr. Milwaukee on OfferUp. Anything I need I just tell him and he watches for deals. He also buys and sells a bunch of stuff that is Milwaukee based so he is in tune with what is available.
And I just remembered some more. I have 2 Sawzalls, 1 infrared thermometer, 1 large right angle drill, and the M18 Fuel Hackzall.
