What did you do to your TJ today?

I'm waiting on an Italian member to post some RICE. Then we have Rice a Roni.

I mounted UTV mirrors on my Rinocons' rock doors.. @Hog is my media specialist, maybe he can post a pic.

New rear extended sway bar links on.

Now I have another challenge...heelers , Buddy and Rosco .. still getting in it at night , cruising probably. Hair everywhere.

Little joker's go right over the rock doors, amazing athleticism for stubby little dogs.

@Hog has a video of Buddy climbing 7 feet up my garage wall grabbing a Frisbee and hanging on to it on the coach light.

I covered the front seats... They got in the back.

Trail cover is on it now.

I'm going to replace the stock fog lights on the bumper with them. The fogs do absolutely nothing for me. New LED headlights should be here Monday. Maybe I can finally drive at night.View attachment 186677
When driving at night try turning on your headlights. They work a lot better than fog lights.

Installed $52 LED headlights from eBay.

Still need to aim them.

So, they’re adjusted... Kinda.

Had to adjust them WAY down. Stopped when the top edge of the light got out to the face of the grill and then backed them off a little. They’re probably still a little high but I didn’t want them to stick out to far. It didn’t help that the ground in front of the fence I used isn’t particularly even.

Cut off is meh.

Still, tough to complain for $52. The light output is so much better. The pattern may have been better in the KC H4 conversion I used in my last LJ, but I’d say these are better overall, if they last.

Extracted my CD from the stock stereo "the hard way". Listening to it as I write this, I forgot how good this one is!

I'm including this picture "for the next guy". See that little plate with the nut? That is inserted into the somewhat bent up hole/bracket to the left. THAT is the so-called "security bolt" which pulled right out of the chassis with a little bit of effort!

The Metra double DIN escutcheon. Fits fine - I'm now at a stand still waiting for the damn (single DIN) head unit to show up - Amazon apparently managed to lose it, so now I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to deign to ship me another one. I need to see how it interacts mechanically with the CB radio so I can engineer how I'm going to install them both. Not much else I can do until it gets here - I'm a bit irritated...

I'm not sure I'm completely happy with the CB radio DIN mount either - it may get modified. It could have been designed better.

Oh, here's one more picture:

Wasn't there a guy here recently who was having grounding issues with an aftermarket stereo? From what I read on the cheat sheet that came with the Metra harness adapter, there is no ground wire on the stock stereo connector! I'm using this braid to ground both the CB and the stereo to one of the nuts that held the stock rear bracket that I removed. This should be a good RF ground for the CB, and will have plenty of current capacity to be a DC ground as well.
Mongo want CD back! 😤

I would try to put the CB below the stereo, it is likely to produce less heat even when it's on and probably won't be one nearly as often.

BTW, I would love to see you dance but it's pretty unlikely I'll be out Fl way anytime soon. Got any videos posted?

Why can’t I find swaybar link (solid) not quick disconnects for lift heights between 2-3”. I see the quick disconnects but their pricey, I want regular links just longer for the lift. Who makes them because I don’t think I can go with 3-4” ones?

That was precisely my plan as the mic won't be hanging over the stereo. However, the CB will probably be on more than the stereo is - but neither on all that much. I love the CB on a long road trip!

As for my dance videos, go to my website (www.doubleveil.net), click the 'galleries' button, scroll down to and click "zorba in motion" and they're all there: the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Today I got my '03 back , the relic known as my "Period Correct Rubicon" on the build thread.

The shop had it so long it felt strange. Felt like I had come home from college to my old room or something ... trying to put words to the feeling.

It is amazing what an exhaust leak does to the power ...feels strong and solid now.

I also had a control arm mount welded on that was an old issue from it's dedicated rockcrawler days and the alignment checked, and was excited to see how it drove.

And it was so windy, it felt like I was being towed. I could tell enough between gusts to know it's ok.

Had to center the wheel a tad.

I'm really glad to have it back, I'm definitely attached to it. It's not the ultimate build, bit it's mine, it's paid for, drives and rides really nice, and it looks cool to me.

Can't believe the hard top never came off it this year...but it ain't over yet.

I finished my spring work on my 06, it needed one final adjustment. It's turned out to be a good "project" , which is a loose term I use for fixing the previous owners choices and loose ends.

I'm considering swapping winches , the faster, heavier winch is on the 06 , and the guy who is buying it doesn't care which one it has , plus it has synthetic cable.

Question is really when to part with the 06. I'm hanging on to it as long as possible.

@Hog and I have a new victim, I mean friend who just got an LJ, so we plan to get together to start molesting it soon. (If the guy lets us near it, he's pretty sharp....he may choose to keep it safe and operable instead).

Reminds me of the time this young kid brought his dirt bike over to get it set up and my maniac cousin and I started cutting his bars down with a sawzall. He was like , whaaaaaat are you doing !!?? Trust us man, there are a lot of trees where we are going sport. Real close together too.

Had the Currie adjustable track bar installed. The axle side mount was wallowed out so I figured there would be welding required for repair (I’m no good at welding). Turns out when they drilled out the mount for the larger bolt it didn’t need repair. It hadn’t ovaled out past 1/2”. While they were down there I had them install the currectlync drag link and track bar with a new bilstein steering stabilizer and align it. Sucks to pay someone else to work on it, but it’s nice to not have to worry about it. No more death wobble and it handles like a new car, sort of... also installed the steering box skid after this pic was taken
