Soft top suggestions

I have a 2006 Rubicon with factory hardtop. I don't want to buy the frame and other hardware to have a factory looking soft top. I'm thinking one of the frameless types might make sense. It will only be used while being towed behind the motor home and then removed when we get where we are going. Only will re-install if it rains. The Jeep is always in a garage and will have the hardtop back on in the winter.
Any suggestions for a brand or style? I think any frameless requires buying a windshield and tail gate bar as well as door surrounds. That's about all I know. Any help would be appreciated.

I got mine from Bestop. Came with door surrounds, tailgate bar and windshield header all in one kit. Works great with a good fit.

was around 500 but I got it from 4 Wheel parts. It was a Best Top but I don't remember the model #.

You basically have two good options for frameless. Bestop or Rampage.

Both will use the bestop tailgate bar and door surrounds (which are same as OEM and you can try to find used on CL or eBay if you get lucky)

Amazon has the best price for the Bestop Door Surround kit new which comes with the tailgate bar.

The Rampage one uses the Rampage Header channel (Around $40). I think the bestop one just latches into the factory header using the same clamps as the Hard Top.

I have the Rampage one and I love it. You cannot go wrong with the bestop version but it is more expensive and IMO more complicated than it needs to be for a frameless top.

There are other companies making frameless soft tops now, but I wouldn't waste my money on any of them.

I did have to purchase door surrounds but those can be found too used. I flat tow my rig too, and it's nice to have the option for top up, top down driving while traveling.

I have the Rampage frameless and I love it! If you go with the Rampage, make sure that you wait for a hot day and lay the soft top out for an hour or so before you try to install it. It's a pain to install if you don't heat it up first!

The difference between it and the front line Bestop is the thickness on the materials. You will need the tailgate bar, some kind of door surround, and factory style header. It was around 350 from Amazon when I bought it.

I have been watching Craigslist for a while and all I'm finding is junk and I really don't like the look of the frame when the top is off.

Stay away from Rugged Ridge, zippers come un-stiched from the fabric immediately, and it leaks around the doors. I'll be getting a bestop when I get sick of this one. I wouldn't have it but PO put it on before selling the Jeep to me.
