MORryde vs Exogate

Probably going to order a Morryde system soon, from advice I read in this thread I'm going to check at an RV dealer to see if they can get it and for how much.

What's the difference between the part numbers JP54-056 and JP54-022? Both descriptions are the same but the picture for 056 shows it cut out around the vent in the tailgate is that the only difference?

JP54-056

JP54-022

I don't know the difference but here is the one I ordered. Which is yet a different part number.

I ordered the JP54-022 off amazon for 310ish for my 06. I think its notched for the vent also. I don't know what's up with the different part numbers

There's an error on the MORryde site.

JP54-056 is the reinforcement kit minus the HD hinges., it is intended for people who have already installed the hinges and want to further upgrade their tailgate by adding the reinforcement.

JP54-022 is the reinforcement kit WITH the HD hinges, it is intended for people who still have the factory hinges on their tailgate and want to do the complete upgrade.

JP54-025 is the HD hinge set only.

The -056 kit is described correctly on the Retrofit Offroad site: https://www.retrofitoffroad.com/shop/tj-jeep-wrangler-1997-2006/tj-tailgate-reinforcement-jp54-056/

I just sent MORryde an email to report the error.

Had the carrier on for a few weeks now, no complaints, about to go check all the bolts to make sure they don't work themselves loose. Any one have a recommended torque for the stainless steel bolts?

I plan on getting the morryde from extreme terrain here, but I dont see the actual tire mount. Am I missing something?

They are essentially the same thing, but there were multiple hinge designs, per the designer Jeff Scherb. I would hold out for extreme terrain to get new inventory and then jump on that price, with the forum discount and free shipping you are saving a $100 over buying from their other vendors. I bought mine from Extreme Terrain and will confirm which hinge I have when I get home. I also have a gr8tops hardtop and still chose to purchase from Extreme Terrain.

You can get the new design Exogate (with the wide-swing hinges) now from MORyde (http://www.morryde.com/products/190...-accessories?filter%5B%5D=all&filter%5B%5D=15), but it's also in the hands of some retailers like Gr8Tops:http://gr8tops.com/shop/jeepmodels/wrangler-lj-2/tj-lj-exogate. The wide-swing hinges are also direct replacements for the factory hinges even without an Exogate, and those are available directly from MORryde (http://www.morryde.com/products/189...-accessories?filter%5B%5D=all&filter%5B%5D=15).

Gr8Tops doesn't list the Rotopax carrier or the other accessories like the HiLift carrier (yet), but those are also available from MORryde, MORryde sent me a production version to test and I just got around to installing it on Saturday

You mention a forum discount with ET here. How do we get that discount?

The price on amazon changes frequently. Keep an eye on it and it should go down under 300.

Bringing this thread back. I’m going to ditch the swing out tire carrier and for with one of the two options listed here but I don’t have the stock spare tire mount. Is there an aftermarket option or do I need to find a used one?

I know Rugged ridge makes a heavy duty one the moves the tire up and out or you can find a used OEM one if you don’t need the tire moved that much. Also if you go with an OEM one, the MORryde system itself allows for the tire to be mounted higher without pushing it out from the Jeep.
