Would it be a good idea to replace my Dana 30 axle shafts with chromoly?

Hey yall, I have a Dana 30 front axle, with 4.88 gears and a ozzie locker, The axle shafts are stock. Would it be a great idea to replace my axle shafts with the much stronger Chromoly axle shafts.??? im running 35" tires and wanting to go to 36".. thanks !!!

I would have done it at 35s, and 36s depending on the actual size are too close to 37s and you should seriously stretch the axles and get aftermarket axles if you want it to be done correctly

Stick with 35's, the Dana 30's ball joints are at their limit reliability-wise with that size.

Go with 4340 inner/outer shafts like from Revolution Gear. Don't fail to upgrade the outers too.

35s? Yes. I was on the fence with 33s and I went ahead and upgraded.

Revolution has two sets of axles. When I spoke to someone from revolution, he said the one made overseas is cheaper and the one made in the USA is the more expensive one. I asked what the difference was and he said it’s just where they’re made. Obviously the less expensive ones were always out of stock from when I was checking.

The USA made RGA shafts come with a lifetime warranty, the imports a ten year.

Some of the products you are looking at are made overseas and or in China, resulting in a budget friendly choice if strength is not a top priority.

I haven't added it all up price wise, but for $395 you can get USA made chromo inners from Dutchman Axle. Foote Domestic stock with Dutchman machining.

A huge difference is that the Dutchman stuff supports a 1310 u-joint vs the Revolution kit which supports as bigger (stronger) u-joint. Not to say that Dutchman can't get the bigger jointed axle shafts. They source from the same domestic supplier.

You are welcome. I suggest giving them a call to see if they can get you the 1350 jointed front inners and outers. As I mentioned they source from Foote and Foote has the forgings for the bigger u-joint. so it may be worth a call, the worst they could say is, "no."

Yes and no. I'm confident you would be fine with the 1310's if Dutchman can't accommodate.

Obvioulsy, someone forgot to tell me they were making U-joints out of Kryptonite??

ok never mind, I got the information from yuKon. The (CTM) or chromoly ujoints are not made for my application , Plus its not really made for higher speeds like on the road,

So far if i go with a kit from East coast gear supply , they have a kit from Yukon they sale and its the best price for the front axle in Chromoly.
I checked 4 different companies.
