Odd Tire Picture Request

Genenral Grabber makes two tires in a 33x10.5x15 tire size (the X3 and the general grabber red label). And so does dick cepek (extreme terrain). So you have more choices if you want to stick with that size.

Thanks for the reply! I am familiar with those 3 choices. I have just found from videos and peers I would pass on those 3 tires. Plus i can get a discount on bfg's and toyos.

I have no useful input on Toyos, but I'd like to give you my advise on mud terrains in general. If you drive your jeep on the streets a lot, all mud terrain tires will cup. I'm on my 3rd set of mud terrains(first set was BFG KM's, second set Cooper STT's, and current set KM2's). I had the best wear with the first set of KM1's. They were the quietest too for a mud terrain. Maybe I'm just getting older or something, but I'm getting tired of the noise they make. I'm about 17K miles into the KM2's, and they are cupping and getting noisier. I rotate every 3K miles. Just a thought, but how heavy are the Toyos compared to the other few choices? If you are set on a mud terrain I'd consider tire weight in the decision process. Just my 2 cents.

So being on my phone I took screen shots. The weight difference is about 13lbs with the KO2's sitting at 51.1lb per tire vs toyo mt sitting at 64 lb per tire. I daily my tj roughly 5 miles a day (sub 45 mph) and hitting the interstate twice a month to visit family (less than 2 hours away). My trail riding has been rapidly increasing so I guess that drives my thrist to try an MT.

Based on your driving habits, it looks like a MT tire would be livable since your interstate driving is less. Personally, I'd like to see you get the Toyos and give us your review of the tire. This is the tire size I'll be running for the foreseeable future.

With no other personal experiences on the forum running the toyo MT's, its really starting to look like I may end up being the guinea pig :D.

I have Toyo Open Country 255/85R16's on my LJ like @StG58 does on his Suburban. Unfortunately I can't comment on their offroad performance because anytime it's come down to offroading I end up taking out my CJ instead. That being said, on the street and in the snow they've been excellent. I do wish the 16s came in something other than load range E but I wanted tall and skinny and this was the only tire that fit the bill. My daughter's LJ has 33x10.5R15 KO2s and it's definitely smoother.

If you want pictures of the LJ on Toyo's let me know. It's not exactly what you're looking for but close.

I'd love to see a pictute of front on, rear, and side. Thank you so much for your input!

@VirtualRussel, nice photos, great looking LJ Rubi. What rock rails are those?

Thanks! Those (as well as the quarters and front/rear bumpers) are the Mopar Rock Crawler line that AEV made as an option for LJs. The bumpers and quarters will work on a TJ but I've never seen these sliders for TJs. Heck, until I bought this LJ I didn't even know there was a factory option for anything other than the stock bumpers & stock Rubicon sliders.

Well that shoots that idea down...

I went with the KM2 33x10.5x15. I don't daily drive mine and don't have many miles on them, but like them so far.View attachment 17664

Sorry just a side bar. Don't want to hijack this thread, but I am interested in your rims. Did you paint them or where they black by default and what kind are they? I have been looking for something like that.

Thank you

Here is a better picture of the wheels, just before I put the new tires on and just before I took the Bushwhacker fender flares off.
