I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, 6cyl with I believe the NV3550 5 speed manual transmission.

It's basically stock at this point. It's my daily driver and I'm wanting to add a lift just because I like how it looks (I don't plan on doing much off-roading if any at all).

I really like the look of 3.5-4" suspension lift with 33" tires. Is a regear going to be necessary if I go up to 33s? I don't drive on the highway and just commute around around town.

I'm on a budget and don't necessarily want to drop another $1000+ on a regear if I don't have to, and I would definitely prefer going up to 33s rather than going with say a 2" lift with 31s.

Do you have 3.07 or 3.73 gears? 3.73 is livable and 3.07 is not. I had 33s and 3.73 gears and could easily maintain 75 mph highway.
p.s. If you have a Dana 44 rear axle, you have 3.73.

If you want 33s I would just do it because that's where you will eventually end up. I am thinking you have 3.73. If so you should be ok and can re gear later. If you have 3.07 I would re gear know and lift later if you cant do it all at once.
If the funds are not available build a little at a time with quality parts.

Finally got off work and got to check. It's 3.73

Interesting. I have 33s with 3:73 (automatic 3spd) and I think it is great. Why would this ratio suck in a manual? trying to learn.
Because your 3-speed 32RH automatic doesn't have an Overdrive, its cruising rpms are typically 21-22% higher producing more power than a manual transmission with an Overdrive does.

I currently have 33's and 3.73 gears. It works, but you basically lose 5th. If you're never going offroad or towing, or loading it to the brim with camping gear, 4.56 would work nice. I'm going with 4.88s because its moar betta
