What did you do to your TJ today?

Needed a place to put my drinks and laptop when I'm sourcing parts or watching Utube when I'm in the garage so I made this little shrine to the Sahara lol

Got my new wheel and tire package ready to go. Buyer for the JK Recon wheels, KO2s, adapter and spare relocation bracket has access to a lift, so we’re pulling everything and switching over Sunday morning. ‘06 Moabs and 285/75R16 MT/Rs.

I liked the 17s and KO2s. But the Recon wheels weren’t my first choice and since I don’t drive it much, I wanted a more aggressive tire. I got a great deal on the wheels and Discount Tire Direct has a decent deal on the MT/Rs, and more importantly, were the only ones with them in stock. Especially since the KM3s are unobtanium as well.

Wheels, I'm running a set of 15x8 with 4" backspacing (-19mm offset). Based on research on this forum, that seems to be a sweet spot for wheel sizing. It fits larger tires nicely without interference, and gives a nice, wide stance.

Tires, I'm running 31x10.5. I went with that size as I'm running a stock Dana 35 rear end and wanted to reduce the chance of twisting an axle. I may go up to 33" when I install upgraded axles, but I have a bunch of other stuff I'd likely do before tires.
I was lucky. Mine came from the factory with Dana44 rear. I’m running stock shells with 31”x10.5 as well. Eventually I will have 17” Mopar Rubicon take offs with 33” tires after the OME 2.5” lift. Then Black magic big disc brakes all around.

Between your posts and @NashvilleTJ posts on garage setups, I'm going to need a support group for us just getting it done with our garages...

You're posting this meanwhile my next exciting garage-related posted with be getting the riding mower into a new shed so I can stop tripping over it....

With that said, o_O - Beautiful!

I'll hit my 14 year anniversary with my TJ on St. Patrick's Day and I finally got rid of my TC drop (was using hockey pucks) a couple weeks ago...

Time, patience, money - a TJ takes them all. ;)

I go back and forth on this skid. I don’t need it for my wheeling as it’s a garage queen. But I just don’t like the look of the skid hanging down. Maybe I can find someone looking to go aluminum or higher lift or whatever.

I want to hack into your home security system and take your Jeep for a little test drive. I will wash it and put some tire shine on when I'm done.(y)
Ewe. Tire shine is the worst IMHO. It always slings everywhere and makes tires dirtier.

Front axle is out.

Rear axle only held in by brake line and breaker tube. Lubing the brake fitting with Kroil overnight. Considering a full SS replacement on the brake lines so that may be irrelevant.

I won't be reselling the lower control arms. Lol.

Clearly tried the grinder. With the axle out, I should be able to get the sawzall in to get this frame mounted piece out. Diablo sawzall blade well worth the cost. Did the job clean and quick on the axle end.
ooo a HP30?!

IF you didn't throw away the old idler pulley; you can replace the old bearing and keep the old pulley as a spare.
I purchased the bearing from Grainger and didn't take very long to replace.
I did throw it away but the bearing was actually fine. The reason for replacing it was because the belt seemed to be melting and there was rubber coated on the pulley itself. The belt needed to be replaced for sure but instead of taking the pulley off and cleaning it to get the melted rubber off, for the $23 for a new pulley, that sounded way better than good old fashioned elbow grease.
