If anybody was to look through my previous postings, like this time, when I had the thought of a new hardtop, and when I almost settled for an aftermarket hardtop, you would be able to deduce fairly fast that I was thirsting hard for a hardtop. I just really liked the look better and my Jeep was already wired for one, so I envied it whenever I saw it.

A little bit after I got my Jeep, my brother's girlfriend of 4 years bought herself a Jeep with a dark Khaki hardtop off of an '04, and I was envious of her. She ended up hating the hardtop, saying things along the lines of "I bought a Jeep man, I want to take off my top." We agreed on a swap for her to test the waters of the world of the soft top.

The terms of this exchange were this:
1. She has the top for a min. of 1 week, and then she will decide if she likes the top or wants to switch back to the hardtop
2. If she chooses to stay with a soft-top, then she picks any top of her choosing and I will buy it for her.
3. I hope to God she likes the soft-top better.

One week passes and I get back from a trip to St. Augustine, and she loves the soft-top, meaning I got myself a hardtop for essentially FREE!

My Jeep as it stood after the top change. Since then I got the rear wiper and washer working, and am working on the defrost. It is very faded but my dad recently discovered that armorall works very well to restore the old color back, as he did on my brother's red '02 (I have no pictures, might get some tomorrow if I remember).

The moral of the story is that the grass is always greener on the other side, and I am loving my new hardtop

How is it a free hardtop, when you have to buy her a brand new, anything she wants, soft top? The top of the line bestop is like 900 bucks. You should be able to find a hard top for less...
All he needs to do is the ethical thing-move, change cell numbers, disown his brother and put a few things on the internet about her that make sure she will never speak to him again.

I mean, a good hard top is hard to come by . There are a lot more people he can make friends with.

Next challenge please....

Not here in South Florida, most hardtops in a not-broken condition run about $1100-1300. If I were to sell the top I got I would probably be able to get $1250 for it

That should really keep the heat in on those cold winter nights in Florida.🥶

p.s. You got screwed in that deal.
lol, completely disregarding the fact that I just seriously prefer the look of the hardtop over the soft top, I still made money in the end assuming she picks a best-of-the-line soft top, like one of those Bestop sailcloth ones. Those I think go for about 900, and down here the market is sparse and any good hardtop runs about $1100-1300

p.s. We just had a cold front, in the 70s right now ;)

Get her one of these sailcloth tops and put a Bestop decal on the rear window. She'll never know the difference. 🤫

Interesting...I see them all the time for 800 bucks in good shape, 500 for something that needs work. I wonder if a guy could buy a few hard tops, sell them in Florida, then bring a couple frames back and make money on both runs?
