With all the Renegade bashing going on I'm surprised that no one has brought up that they are using the Scrambler name for the new pick-up...o_O

I drove a JKU. It’s a great vehicle and exceptionally nice on the highway. However, there’s no way I would ever, ever trade my TJ for it. The TJ is so classic and so much simpler to work on. The JK was also a bit bigger than I like. I like the smaller size of the TJ.

I'll say it again, because I own both a TJ and a JKU. They are related, but not the same. One's much closer to the famous "Jeep in a Box" and the other is closer to a last gen Suburban. The TJ's are truly the last of the real Jeeps. Especially the early SE's with almost no added ups and extras. Long after all the JK/U's are recycled into Prius', there will be 1999 SE's motoring down the trail, albeit slowly. :D

Owning a CJ,TJ, and a JK I like my TJ the best. What I hate about the JK is the price and most of the owners. I could go into a great detail, but I will spare y'all what y'all already know. Thought I'd share this though, don't hate...

Bad credit can also mean no payments :)

Well it's pretty much been said but . . .

I don't like how it's complicated. You should be able to leave it out in the rain with the top down and not fret about your leather, nav system, stereo etc. You should also be able to work on it if you have basic mechanical skills.

I really hate how the Hummer's gouge in the Jeep market in the mid 2000s affected the development the JK. I will always see the JK as the baby of a TJ and a Hummer. I wish that they would have done two models, one like the current JK and another version smaller like the CJ/YJ/TJ.

As for the owners, mods, etc. I could care less. I've seen people lower TJs and put neon lights underneath them so "unconventional" mods aren't limited to JKs. As for the owners, every new version of the Jeep brings a new group of purchasers. It gives old Jeep owners impressions that new Jeep owners don't belong. I bought my first TJ before there was a JK. TJ people weren't Jeep people. TJ owners were just yuppies who didn't understand Jeeps. I would wave to guys in CJs and YJs and half the time I couldn't get a wave back. I wasn't let into the cool kids' club until the JK rolled out. In that respect, I love the JK. I bet JK owners are going to love the JL for the same reason.

Actually this is the beat analogy of model changes and personal likes and dislikes about them I have seen here so far!!! As to waving here where I live almost any Jeep going by that I wave at waves back if they actually see me maybe we are more tolerant in this area. Good post!

The rear bumpers.

Wife backed her pretty red JKU into a pole this evening. Got the rear bumper, license plate and mount, tail light, quarter panel up to the middle of the gas door, and the rear panel up to the tailgate opening. How does that even happen to a "trail rated" off road rig!? WTF! Are these things so flimsy that you can't even bump a pole with them?!

There goes another three months on my gears and lockers...she better not give me any shit over bending the SE when it happens. \rant

Well, there was a lot of yellow paint in what was left of the tail light. I bet someone is going to have to splash some paint on it in a few years so it doesn't rust.

Grrrrr...that JKU is getting lifted, tires (again) and up-armored before the love of my life kills the poor fragile thing.

Thanks for the sympathy. We'll find out how good the insurance is.
