Well it's pretty much been said but . . .
I don't like how it's complicated. You should be able to leave it out in the rain with the top down and not fret about your leather, nav system, stereo etc. You should also be able to work on it if you have basic mechanical skills.
I really hate how the Hummer's gouge in the Jeep market in the mid 2000s affected the development the JK. I will always see the JK as the baby of a TJ and a Hummer. I wish that they would have done two models, one like the current JK and another version smaller like the CJ/YJ/TJ.
As for the owners, mods, etc. I could care less. I've seen people lower TJs and put neon lights underneath them so "unconventional" mods aren't limited to JKs. As for the owners, every new version of the Jeep brings a new group of purchasers. It gives old Jeep owners impressions that new Jeep owners don't belong. I bought my first TJ before there was a JK. TJ people weren't Jeep people. TJ owners were just yuppies who didn't understand Jeeps. I would wave to guys in CJs and YJs and half the time I couldn't get a wave back. I wasn't let into the cool kids' club until the JK rolled out. In that respect, I love the JK. I bet JK owners are going to love the JL for the same reason.
