Any suggestions for carpet replacement that fits like OEM, or am I expecting too much?
The recent ACC-brand carpet is much larger than OEM, has really bad rugged edges and no slits cut into it.

Aren't they're different versions of the ACC products? Feel like I remember reading about one that is more cut to fit than the others

I bought the ones LJ shows pictures of. Not perfect but pretty close…

I'd be happy with "pretty close". This product is nowhere near close.
That sucks. The ACC carpet that I got fit with minimal tweaking. I did need to enlarge the slits where the loops are in the rear seat floor area, but that may be because of my OCD versus it really needing done…

I got that type of kit because I didn't want all of the cut-outs as I don't have a back seat. It's a cut-to-fit kit. If you want plug-and-play, you need the other kit. I'm no upholsterer so my installation is far from perfect but the material quality (Essex) is better than OEM or Bedrug.

Care to elaborate, this is the first time I've heard of someone being displeased with it
Certainly. The fitting , for example, leaves a lot to be desired. There are some areas that are elevated from the floor or corners and some that are cut too short and don't reach the part desired. The kicker panel ones are not cut professionally at all.

That is definitely ill fitting. I would not be happy with that at all…

Get the other fitted set. And select long or short console.

Mine went in very well. I used Essex. Which is like thick Caddilac carpet. Way thicker than bedrug. The acc Cutpile is thinner. But not bedrug thin. And thats no blast on bedrug. Its great if u get your jeep wet inside. Dries out faster.

Between the sound dradener, heat shield and essex carpet it filled my footwells. And made the rubber mats on drivers side buckle and get in the way of the accelerator peddle. But thats only if u pile on all 3 materials. And the Cutpile would solve this.

Mine is the Cutpile with Mass Backing; truly leaves a lot to be desired.

Is this for an lj or tj? I seem to recall someone saying that for lj all u can get is the trim to fit. But thats like 3rd hand speculation. Have you contacted acc directly? They are a fabulous company to deal with. They sent me 5 color samples for free. And answered all my questions.

Mine seemed to be slightly bigger than my original. But not all Jeeps are the same. And i think its better to have to much rather than not enough.

It also seems like acc is meant to go in with some velcro or spray adhesive to line all the way up and over stuff. It seems to cover more. And also seems to be a carpet that the seat brackets etc sit over the carpet for less exposed areas. Also meaning ita more of a caroet to put inplace and leave. Rather than bedrugs easy ability to be removed and replaced.

I just want to add that after installing sound deadener and heat shield. I could have gone with bedrug no problem. I was just turned off by the price. ACC is so much less expensive. If your not getting mass backed.

I prefer sound deadener attached to the tub vs mass backing. But if your adverse to it. Mass backing is a step in the right direction. You just wont get the same results as sound deadener attched directly to the tub.

If you compared just cutpile without the mass backing to bedrug. The price difference is significant.

No matter what i would put down at least heat shield. As there is so much heat generated below the tubs centerline. Its cheap and light. Goes down with a light coat of spray adhesibe. So easy to remove. Unlike sound deadener. Www.carinsulation.com

I did see a frienda bedrug in his truck this week. Its very nice. Berber type carpet. Like looped not cut. With sewn trimmed edges.

Isn't the mass backing similar to MLV? Does anyone have any specs as to how much mass backing is included in it?

As far as I understand it, what you're referring to as sound deadener, the adhesive sheets or tiles, is for eliminating resonance from the tub and sheet metal. It doesn't really do much to block noise coming from other sources like road noise.

That's what the MLV or mass backing is for, because the added mass is what absorbs and eliminates the noise coming into the cab. As far as MLV goes, I've only ever seen it in combination with a Closed Cell Foam layer, about 1/8" thick, between the MLV and sheet metal or body panels to decouple it from those and prevent the MLV from resonating with the sheet metal. Do you know what the underside of the ACC carpet is like, does it have anything like a foam layer to decouple it from the tub?

I covered the tub with Noico 80ml and thought the mass backing rug would be an additional barrier. It would’ve been fine if it hadn’t been so poorly cut and fitted.

Bed rug is the best I’ve seen
I agree with Rescue6; the Bedrug products fit quite well and are a very good quality for the price...
Even the BedRug stuff requires cutting slits for the floor anchor points and seat belt bolts. That said, it's the only carpet replacement I use!
