Common or acceptable? Common, unfortunately yes, because they can get away with it because so few people today are educated or care enough about their daily driver appliance that is mostly what these shops work on. Acceptable? To anyone who cares about their vehicle (meaning 99% of the people on this message board), hell no.

I believe that is the shield that was used on the intake to prevent debri from starting a fire. There is a recall for that component.

Wow I don't think that is a proper fix, especially with the sharp edge of the screw sticking through the floor. Maybe if they pulled the carpet and drilled a hole putting a bolt/nut through the other way.

Maybe you can run the screws from the inside out, since the damage is already done. or as above.

At least they are nicely marked now. Don't even have to figure out where they go.

Our roofer took a roof off and had it refelted by 8am- sure wish he had been at the right address. Of all the days to be productive.

Here is the difference in the owner and everyone else-the owner knows what will fly.

Kills me when you try to do great work , get picked to death, and see what people get by with.

I got a free aeration, seed and fertilizer a couple springs ago, but never a free roof.

We had a period here this year where it rained very hard every day for about a month. We are used to afternoon thunderstorms in the summer but not like this, not in the 20+ years I have lived in FL have we ever had consistent rains every day. It was not just in the afternoon, was at all times of the day. People were having a real hard time finding a time to mow the lawn when it was not raining. Roofers had a roof off and kept working under light drizzle, then it happened. Downpour for hours, just like it had every day for weeks. They were slow to get tarps out and had to run to Home Depot because they did not have enough. Huge water damage in the entire two story house. After everything was fixed and dried out the painters came in and sprayed new paint, including overspray on everything in each room of the house including the garage.

Should have done such a simple job yourself really! just grind off the pointy bits and your sweet!
Could be worse and have 2 holes for each with some Zip ties.

View attachment 272883View attachment 272884There are bolts with washers but it appears over time the area around the washer has worn which made it fall down. It seems like it would have been just as easy to put larger washers which would not have hurt anything.

Luckily the spot they drilled through was already rusty but still not happy about it

The retaining nuts usually come off pretty easy. I would removed them and installed some fender washers to keep the shields in place.
