I think you're right. Pretty sure I made a 3.5" joke a few months ago in one of his threads and he corrected me saying that the 5.25s had better fidelity or something. One of these days I'm gonna hang out with @Zorba when I go back to FL. I'll report back in detail.
I ordered a Hyline rear bumper/tire carrier combo from Quadratec on backorder. Kept getting pushed back. Called Hyline in PA and asked when they thought they'd be able to supply Quadratec as I assumed it was an issue getting steel out of China. Was told Quadratec hadn't placed an order for any stock or backordered items and that they had a batch coming out of powder coating in a day or so. Cancelled my order with Quadratec and had my bumper/tire carrier at my door about a week later. Hyline took 10% off Quadratecs price as well.
8 inch! The only floppies that really worked well, although the 3.5" were "ok". 5.25" were horrid, and had 50 million different formats, all incompatible with each other. But I was figuring on spooling the entire diatribe to the TeleType machine's 110 baud paper tape punch...

8 inch, the original floppy disk, compared with the later 5.25 and the 3.5 inch versions. The 8 inch originally held 241 Kilobytes when formatted, this was later doubled, then doubled again. My first computer used the 8 inchers.

I think one of the over arching issues is that people don’t want to work at a dollar tree. Jobs don’t pay enough, they want to offer people less than 40 hours a week, and the cost of health care keeps going through the roof. Nobody is rushing to apply at a dollar tree and in some areas in this country the choice is working at a wal-mart or a dollar tree.
They hold a formal certificate in Horticulture and Landscape design, 3 year apprenticeship for horticulture extra 1 year Collage degree in landscape design and Arboriculture! chlorophytum elatum variegatum. lol they have to know the Latin for all plants, Genus Species and common name, not sure what for?
I work with many on a Shire (municipality) who usually leave and start their own licensed landscaping business, they are in high demand and earn bucket loads . People want instant gardens and they cant yet buy them from China

There's a couple of guys in the local group that work for Quadratec as the company is located in the region. From what is posted, shipping issues are the most common cause for the delays. Seems that they get their products from just a few distributors and to keep costs down, a partial container won't ship. With everything else being messed up and inconsistencies in the supply chain, it could take a while nowadays before a full container is ready to roll.

I agree, but in my case at least Quadratec has communicated. Shortly after I placed my order I had an email telling me my order would not ship for 7 to 10 days. Given the point on consolidating orders to a single location that makes sense.
Now, I may be biased, Quadratec is one of a relatively small number of US based suppliers that will ship to the UK. Of those that will ship to the UK most charge such crazy shipping costs they may as well not bother to offer shipping. As a UK based TJ owner Quadratec are a Godsend, even after shipping an import duties the cost of items is usually significantly less than buying from a UK based retailer, and that is if you can find one that carries the part you want.

Also, they do not take money off my card until they ship and I can cancel the order juck by clicking a button up until it ships. In the case of the latter that may mean they have spent time and money consolidating an order just to have it cancelled.
On my last order, due to a very extended delay they shipped in two parts, which no doubt cost the more but did not pass on the extra cost. Because of that there was cock up that meant my import duties were too high. I emailed to ask for help fixing it, they refunded me the amount of the excess duty.
That seems pretty customer focussed to me.

Bottom line it's a mess for everyone right now and small businesses in particular are being hit exceptionally hard. I am an steadfast supporter of local small businesses and the hits they are taking are tremendous. It's not one issue over another. It's a combination of them all. Restaurants are running on shorter operating hours due to staffing. Seasonal companies don't get a chance to make up lost jobs over the winter because they can't get the materials or the workers to complete the jobs . As @mrblaine stated earlier, there's a lot of lost profits. So if someone can make a sale and a customer happy, they are gonna do what they can to make it happen.
I literally just had an estimate to replace 550 linear feet of fencing. The owner said in 35 years of owning the company would he ever recommend vinyl over wood for a job this size. But the cost of wood is so high that it doesn't make much sense not to get the vinyl because the price gap is not that great.
Days of instant gratification are over for the foreseeable future. We just need to be patient. Those on the backend are feeling the same frustrations that we are feeling in the front end. Luckily for most of us it doesn't impact our ability to make a living

Maybe you can get the $25 dollar an hour guy and charge him for for a hands on rake training session. You can start by duct taping the handle to his hands so he doesn't forget what end to hold . Then you would need to explain the whole pull not push the rake thing. May be a little confusing at 1st but after a week or two you might end up with decent professional raker. Of course you would probably need to make sure you get him certified in raking and help him get a COI for tax reasons and liability.
Another thought if push broomers are cheaper in your area you could higher him to go through the motion in reverse with a rake instead of a broom. He may not be able to guarantee or warranty his work.

Dunno if this makes me an ‘apologist’ or a realist but I paid $199 for my then ‘out-of-date’ iphone 6 about 4 years ago because I won’t piss away a grand on the ‘latest’ version. My crappy iphone is still a phone, a camera, a video/camcorder, a radio, an ipod, a gps, a computer, a fitness tracker thing, and prolly a bunch of other crap I left out because I don’t use those features. There is simply no way you can assemble a pile of individual devices that can do all of this cheaper or better much less cheaper and better. I get the disdain for these devices as they have exposed a large portion of society as a pack of driveling morons, but when it comes to dollars, cents and functionality facts are facts.Oh boy. I could write a 1.5 terabyte diatribe on this subject, but I'll spare everyone the pain (including myself!). I don't see a single damn thing that a smartphone does that can't be done better and/or cheaper by something else - except perhaps show what an idiot the owner is by spending that kind of money on a luxury status symbol with limited usability. More money than brains! The cost to society is enormous - I hope the guy that invented this thing rots in He... Wait! He already is!

I say exposed as opposed to ‘turned into’ because smartphones don’t cause stupidity, they expose it, much like guns don’t kill people but they do expose the killers among us. There is no shortage of incredibly useful things in this world for responsible individuals, but when you give a moron things like alcohol, cars, weapons, chain saws, credit cards & yes, smart phones, you run the risk of a different result.
