Rocky Mountain Billy Goat Build

I've got some soft lines that are more modular I'm planning on trying out, but it wasn't a cheap direction. If these fail I'll probably try this out.

I copied the list from Josh, but will post it later this week when I actually do the work.
Nice that stuff is cool. I’d like to make the jump to that setup down the road as well

Yeah, where the YJ lines mount at the crush washer the one flat side that orients is not helpful, which is why I and mrblaine and others recommend the Dorman which is flat on three sides allowing for various orientations. I just ground down another side on the YJ ones so I could mount them pointing up which gives maximum extension. I hope your soft line solution works, but this is a backup plan.

This actually looks surprisingly not bad in a 90s way in person. I spotted one in east Portland a couple years ago and thought it was a junkyard special from a distance .. but as I got closer to it walking on the road, it looked too nice to be a junkyard car. It was an interesting look. I wonder how popular they were when they were in production.

edit - I was thinking there was also some careful consideration in assembly (and hence production) .. they seemed to have made sure that no sure adjacent panels are the same color. Graph theory in car assembly!

edit2 - I remember there was a rollover rebuild (by Tigerman?) on this forum where he got parts from different jeeps. I'll see if I can find that photo. It is amazing how much difference colors make.

I kinda like them goofy as they are. Not sure I'd actually spend money on one though. My VW fan friend thinks they're worth a lot now

Found it!

Prepping for paint Monday when the weather should be good while still giving me enough time to let it cure before leaving to Moab Saturday.

Are you going single stage or paint + clear? My first try going with paint + 2k clear didn’t go as well as I had hoped. Would love to blame it on a bad can of clear but it was likely something I did.

Paint + Clear, I doubt it'll turn out great since I've not done this in a long time but really just want to get the yellow gone. Fortunately once the new flak armor is on there won't be much red to compare it to 😅.
