Colorado Krew Hangout

The story that we have read is that the gulch was named for a Chinese guy who lived there and cut railroad ties in the late 1800s. But there is never any detail on who he was or where specifically he lived and worked.

If this is true, it would have been nice to rename Chinaman with the guy's real name. That would maintain the history and give Buena Vista or whoever is in charge of the land the chance to tell the story and offer some context and education for visitors.

But instead we now get to call the place Resilience Gulch. Either the story isn't true, or the people in charge are lazy.

all right front range folks,

tranny is sitting on the floor,

any suggestions for a good shop for a rebuild?

No suggestions but stay away from Advanced Transmission! They tried to screw me so bad on my last jeep. They cracked my housing and tried to give it back to me with putty fixing the crack. Fuck those guys. Luckily caught it.

I'm looking for a reliable shop Arvada/Boulder area if anyone has suggestions? Also need someone to rebuild my shocks. Has anyone used 303 Shock Service or know of anyone else?

The biggest name in that area is ATS diesel but I did not have a good experience with them either. Reviews are 50-50 online for them.. As always, I think it's going to boil down to finding someone gives a crap and actually cares about their job and does a good rebuild.

May I suggest getting a rebuilt box from Jasper. I replaced an engine in a dodge truck 11 or 12 years ago. I sold it to a buddy and it is still going strong with close to 100k. That is all they do is rebuilds. They send a rebuilt unit in a crate and you ship back the core.

So took a drive into the mtns today, up 285 I believe. East bound right before it comes out the canyon just missed a champagne TJ Sahara that rolled over. We were going the opposite direction.

When we came back a hour later it was getting put on a rollback. Looks like the driver was alright.

Bummer. I drive that road a lot. Few big corners that can sneak up on you if you’re not paying attention. Glad everyone’s ok

Those are sharp turns, especially coming down a 6% grade. I think its posted 35 mph, I've seen a lot of people take them at 55+. There are always accidents there; semis, motorcycles and anything in between.

I used to live right at the bottom there as 285 crosses 470, it is a nice area and very close access to get up to the mtns.

Single arch McDonalds spotted, I thought there was only the original in Montrose, but I spotted this off 104th yesterday.
