Piss & Moan Table

I'm sure no one here needs to see this, but share it around to the millions that do! I just stand and shake my head when I see someone videoing in vertical format when it should be horizontal!

Unfortunately now all of the short form video content (tik tok, reels, shorts, etc) is designed to be in vertical / portrait. It’s perpetuating the problem! We might actually end up getting Star Wars the Skinny Version … but it will only be 30 seconds long.

Entirely my fault--but over the weekend I had a USB thumb drive in my pocket. I was driving my wife's car and had her keys which have a long lanyard attached to them also in my pocket. When I pulled the keys out, the lanyard caught the thumb drive and it fell to the ground with me not noticing. My thumb drive had pay stubs from the last three years, professional resumes, hundreds and hundreds of photos over the years, the service manuals for my jeep and pickup, and other references/resources like the hydro assist setups, torque specs, my welder manual, etc..

The pay stubs have my address on them, which sucks. All the other info like routing/acct #s and SSNs are redacted, thankfully. Other than that, no other sensitive info on the thumb drive. I am hoping the massive snow storm we had that day and all the water and potential plowing of the parking lot has completely damaged the thumb drive though.

🤦‍♂️

Of course you have a backup...

Yep - useless "social media" sites perpetuating this crap until even YooToob felt compelled to jump in. I just ignore it. I had 2 or 3 verticals on my "channel" (that were shot by others) that were automatically converted into "Shorts" - I pulled them, letter boxed some of them to re-upload and tossed the others. At least they're not "shorts" anymore.

Yeah, I hate those things, if I'm on YouTube searching for something, I filter all those "shorts" out. Another thing that pisses me off is, when people upload a how to video and have bloody music going on in the background while they talk, who the hell thought that was a good idea, I want to listen to what they are saying, not listen to some crap music.

Or those who can't seem to decide on a audio level, and blast you out of your chair with some God-awful thrash-trash metal music, then drop the volume 75% for the actual video! Or those who make very nice videos that would be a heck of a lot better with some editing - you really don't have to make the entire video with one take! *COUGH*hickok45*COUGH*

You know, its interesting working with someone who has all sorts of stupid young and dumb mistake issues that they 100% have the ability to resolve in life to become a fine outstanding middle aged man. but yet all they do is point out everyone else's fault, won't admit to their own faults, continues their faults and makes sure the center of attention is not focused on them. fucking hate working with slackers.

I got a lot of deliveries today, which is why I plowed the driveway again this morning after the 3” of snow we got on top of the 15” or so yesterday. Then I had to cut two downed hemlocks off the main road that the storm knocked over. Open for business.
USPS delivers my Black Magic Brakes and the rotor boxes are all beat up, breached and re-taped. There’s an apology note on one from the postmaster, but it includes blaming senders who don’t properly package their stuff. I can assure you BMB did a fine job with the packaging, just not good enough to survive the USPS apparently. Thankfully no rotor damage or missing hardware. And I took it for granted but the BMB packages were delivered to my garage.
Amazon delivered several boxes, also to my garage. No issues.
The comes FEDEX to deliver my new welder and welding table. Two pricey items in thief-magnet boxes with pretty pictures of the expensive equipment inside. FedEx leaves them at the road. Like on the apron of the main street. Didn’t even try to go up the driveway. Does that count as “delivery”?! Luckily I was checking my emails, saw it was delivered and went looking for it. We’ve had them leave stuff down there before and the plow truck comes and buries it in a snow bank. it’s just unacceptable. I left a bad review but I’m sure it won’t do anything.

So I had to come piss and moan. That made me feel a little better.

Amazon makes mistakes occasionally but I am impressed that in a few short years they created a delivery network that is far, far superior to the big ones that have been around for decades. It’s one of the reasons I buy so much from them. Fast, reliable, and if there are any problems at all it’s so easy to return stuff. All for no extra cost. The big boys better catch up or go extinct. No offense to anybody who works for USPS, UPS or FedEx … I do know some folks there.

I hear ya, but...

FedEx leaves them at the road.

Call the local hub responsible directly and explain the situation to them, likely the best chance you have of it making a difference. I have done this before and at least had the chance to speak with a human, usually the hub manager, and plead my case. Unfortunately, bad reviews only make you feel better by getting off your chest (which does have some value).

Experiences vary greatly with any of them, I suspect, and your comment is proof. You wouldn't feel that way if you lived in my neighborhood. Amz misses delivery dates constantly and often just drops parcels in front of the garages (four per building in full view of the road, no weather protection) instead of walking another 25 ft to the common unit entry decks. They only take proof of delivery photos when parcels are delivered properly at the door so there's no evidence when they don't. I've had more damaged product and delivery issues with Amz than any other at my current address. Oddly enough, the USPS does a really good job here.

30 years in Chicago, I miss the first few winter snows and summer cruising down lake shore drive / lakefront path. 10yrs in ATL, not sure I’ll ever get used to the pollen or snakes.

Yeah pollen bugs me and snakes are something that fascinate me but make my skin crawl

Read the book, Salvation on Sand Mountain.

About meeting, we may just stay internet friends

While I am not a member of a Snake handling church, I have been to one in the past a time or 3.

After I read the book Salvation on Sand Mountain, I was intrigued and went to one down the road about 50 miles from me.

To say these people have faith is an understatement for sure.
