What did you do to your TJ today?

Any ideas on how to best repair this rust spot?

I know that they are old and need to be replaced. It is on the list to be done this year, but it is almost $1.5-2k for 5 new tires. I need to budget for that.

You will be amazed at how much better it will drive on new tires… My latest TJ had BFG KO that were manufactured in 2010 when I got it in July… on the highway it felt like the back was swaying on corners, no traction on wet pavement… I thought I was going to have to replace control arms to get stability… new tires made all the difference in the world!… drives smooth and stable now… You don’t have to spend $2000 for tire unless you want too, I bought mine online, had them shipped to a local used tire shop who installed them for $30 each… total was less then $1100… 5 tires 33X12.50X15 10ply

@97JadeTJ where did you buy the tires online? I usually get tires with Discount Tire since they do free rotations and stuff like that. I also go with 5 tires instead of 4.

But what you were describing about your old tires are exactly what I am feeling too. My tires right now are from 2014 or 2015.

I got mine from

like I said there is a used tire dealer about 2 miles from my house and he rotates and balances and does all that so that’s who I will use for my rotations and stuff… I ordered them on December 22 and they were delivered on December 24. No complaints in the purchase or the product at all… The rubber on the old tires gets hard and doesn’t grip as well as new rubber

I don't know if it is the tires (BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO), the age of the tires, the nature of 2WD/4WD vs AWD, or just the conditions that were that slick, but I was driving around in snow last night and was slipping a decent amount. My AWD Outback with snow tires is extremely sure footed in these conditions. The Jeep was slipping a decent amount last night. I stopped at a light on a hill and was slipping when hitting the gas. Put it in 4HI and got it going. Had a couple of slight slips just driving straight down the road. Had to put it in 4HI again in the parking lot in the restaurant because once again I was slipping getting into a parking space.

I'm still learning how this TJ handles in winter conditions.

The deeper the snow, the better they go. I always use 4H. An AWD car would be better until it gets deep. 🫢

When i repainted my grill i used rustoleum rust remover,Its in a spray bottle but comes out as a gel
Worked great for me especially since i had 50+ rock chips with rust wanting to form
Another tip is to sand the rust spot a little bit and then put that rust remover to help it do its thing. Also ! im sure Theres a bit of that rust is under the paint where its peeling too so be aware !
After removing the rust get some etching primer,(kinda optional) Filler primer and sealing primer and for the good stuff the Paint and clear but for something so small i wouldn't trip about using sealing primer on it,But thats just me 😁!'

Edit- as far as the dent goes i wouln't know what to tell ya,other than a stud welder to pull it out and work it........or just fill it with body filler😅....i wouldn't do that though

Picked up the jeep from the tire shop after they messed up the bead on 2 of my KM3’s , so they replaced them just in time for a quick little trail ride.

In other words, I think my front skyjacker black max shocks are dead after 3 months. I'll pull them tomorrow and see how they feel .

Thanks for the tips.

I'm thinking about taping it off and taking a Dremel to the area to remove the rust and a bit of paint around the rust spot. Then, I'll use the rust remover like you said, prime it, and then use some touch up paint on it. I'm not worried about the dent too much. Also, this spot is the worst body spot on the entire Jeep.

I'm wanting to wrap my grille soon. I'll use the rust remover on the rock chips on the front of it before I wrap it.

Sounds like a plan !

Welp I now installed my new battery cage,it's from Next Venture motorsports
This thing is rock solid and my battery ain't moving any time soon to say the least. Oh and I also got a new odyssey battery too a couple weeks ago when It was freezing here in Texas because my Previous Ac Delco bat. Wasn't cuttin it!

My only gripe is that the nutserts suck, all of them! They fell out the second I tried to bolt the hold down pissed me off more than anything but oh well, But other than that it's a great kit! well made.....simple design and because it matters its MADE IN MURRICAH BABEH🦅🇺🇲

edit- Put the stock airbox back on instead of running a pod filter cause of the rain ......The thing lost like 20 hp if feels like,it wont peel out on dry concrete no more like it did with just a pod filter with a prefilter (which someone stole from my driveway cause no hood 🙃).....but this looks more formal for the meantime rather than the stock tube being ziptied back with a pod filter on it
I'll be on the lookout for a decent CAI setup now !

I finally saw this LJ that's been for sale locally. The PUMPKINATOR 2. The expensive top might look better if the Jeep was lifted on 35s. It's an 06' auto with 73,000 miles on it. He's asking $19,500. It's in very good condition. He won't get that price here in Charlottesville though.
