Already countersunk shortly after that pic was taken. The Sharpie marks should go away this weekend when they turn into more countersunk bolts and some lights.
Mkay, my conscience is clear now.

I think some raw numbers would be interesting to see, if only to satisfy a curiousity. I for example have no clue the difference between your setup and @NashvilleTJs 40" on a full-custom tire carrier.
...
That's a sweet looking bumper. A beast, yet still high clearance and low profile.X2. Most will recommend a body mounted carrier separate from the bumper. MoRyde or Exogate.
If you're wheeling, a minimalist bumper like from NextVenture would be good.
I was curious, so I found this.

The larger tire sits about 3-4" higher above the bottom of the body than mine does. But the carrier holding that tire occupies a bunch of space under that tire. Plus the entire assembly sticks out further.
Therefore, the only reason that setup might have more ground clearance than mine is because the frame height is higher than mine is.
All for what that is worth when comparing two very different builds and build philosophies.

And just for fun I measured - it’s 38” to the bottom of the tire.

By the way - I did make it up that ledge. On FIns, I believe.

28" on mine.
Hey everyone,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a new rear tire carrier /bumper to replace my redrock one. Reasons for replacing are it rattles all the time, I don't trust the welds, pivot from breaking, and I want to tow a small trailer and I also don't trust the integrated hitch receiver. I've seen over the years that people love the Rock Hard 4X4 tire carrier as it seems to not rattle, be very strong, and has a proper hitch for towing (within reason). It also costs $1700+ to get delivered ($300 freight shipping). Are there any other brands out there people recommend? I'll be carrying a 35" spare and towing a 1000lb trailer. What are y'all running these days? thanks

The factory spare tire carrier, by itself, is not strong enough for 35's. Mine cracked and failed when I was still only running 33's. About the only way the factory spare tire bracket will hold up is if something like the below exists to support the weight of the tire.can I use the factory spare tire bracket for a 35" tire? is it strong enough or do people recommend getting beefier ones? also will the stock bracket fit a 35" tire with 3.75" backspacing?
I carry one of these kits due to multiple sidewall tears. I have yet to try it.
Sorry I just don't know which, if any, aftermarket spare tire mounting brackets are stronger and worth installing. It has been >20 years since I last used the OE type of spare tire mount, I switched to the tub-mounted OR-Fab spare tire carrier.@Jerry Bransford I ordered the morryde with all the reinforcements, but I need to reuse the spare tire bracket, there are some for sale locally (OEM) but was wondering if it is strong enough to carry my spare. can you recommend an aftermarket up to the task? i don't have to rely on having a brace underneath the tire

We used one on the trail on an F150. Guy ran it all day and 50 miles of interstate home. Appears to me to be easier than the glue tread.
So, is the recommendation to leave the spare off the LJ for Moab?
Gonna look into some of the recommendations here for alternative to the Currie pictured in an effort to lose weight.
Front Currie as well with Warn PowerPlant. Don't know which if any aluminum bumpers will accommodate the PP.
I'm not trying to hijack the thread, just enjoying the discussion.
