State of Cats 2023: Evan Fischer?

I’ve actually put this project on the side burner for now. It was a proactive replacement so I was spending money elsewhere

State of Cats 2023: Evan Fischer?

I need to replace my muffler and exhaust pipe that have rusted out. The piping and cats back to the muffler are showing some surface rust as well and at 20 years old maybe on limited time so I am looking at replacing the entire system. Jeep is a 2004 with the 4.0, not in a CARB state. It looks...

Front axle rotated changing control arms

I was changing out my control arms and screwed up. I had all the rear and the front lower done one at a time with no problems. I had changed the front passenger upper and was torquing it down to 60 ft lbs when the rear bolt broke in half. Without thinking I pulled the driver side thinking I’d...

    Time for new motor mounts?

I’m continuing my hunt to get all my rubbers back in good shape. I replaced six of the control arms today (front uppers left to do) . While crawling around under the Jeep I checked on my motor mounts. It looks like some wear and cracking in the rubber. I was concerned about the rubber...

    Death Wobble Starting

Welp it happened, I started getting death wobble and need to get it figured out. Last Friday (4/7) I was going to see my parents going southbound through a construction/resurfacing work zone at 55-60 MPH and started getting violent shaking. I slowed down and pulled to the shoulder thinking I...

Bent Crossmember and Dented Frame: Safe?

All right guys I screwed up today, how bad is it? I’m not actually sure if I did it or if it’s been like this and I have never noticed but lets assume it was me. I was doing a transmission flush and filter change. Read all the how-tos a few times, gathered all my supplies and got started. I...

    TJ/LJ Hunting Set Up

I’m looking for any tips, tricks, or ideas for how you guys have been setting up your TJ/LJ for hunting. I feel like with a bow case, pop up blind and other gear I’m going to be getting tight for space. I normally drive my truck because it has so much more room and is nicer on the highway...

U-joints, ball joints, what else to do?

All right guys you talked me out of any new mods for now so let’s do some more maintenance. Quick background, have 2004 LJ with 125,000 miles; I’ve had it since 95,000 putting 5,000-10,000 on it per year. As far as I know it has always worn 30-31” tires. I have done ZJ tie rods and...

What next? Help me spend my money on my 2004 LJ

I haven’t done much to my Jeep in a couple years  and I’m starting to get the itch to spend some money. It’s a 2004 LJ on 31” BFG KO2 and isn’t quite a DD but is close, it sees 99% of its time on the road with quite a bit of highway at 75-80 MPH and currently sees occasional light...

    H&R 1” lift

I’m going to have some time this week and decent weather so I’m willing to do a weight/sag experiment and document it here to give back to the community. My question is how heavy is everyone interested in seeing? I’ll load weight in trunk.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Drove tonight for the first time after installing the upgraded light harness. It does appear to have improved the lights. They seem more white and have better throw and spill. The wife noticed and commented as well. Phillips Extreme Vision 130 60/55W in Cibbie lenses.

    Oklahoma Mechanic Recommendation

The leaks on my LJ appear to be getting worse. I’m going to try to diagnose and repair but may get lazy or stumped and take it to a shop. Any recommendations for a good mechanic in OK? I’m in OKC but would travel for good recommendations and someone I could trust.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Added the KSuspension H4 wiring harness upgrade. Just tested for a moment to back it out of the garage but not sure I saw a big improvement. Also greased all the certs. Next is installing the MORryde HD hinges. It’s had a suspected small rear main seal leak since I bought it but I’ve never...

    MORryde vs Exogate

I ordered the HD hinges today. My plastic covers have broken but the bigger problem the little built in steel stoppers on the hinges have broken as well from the gate swinging open and hitting them at speed.

    MORryde vs Exogate

My stock hinges have swung open one too many times and have broken the little metal stopper and the plastic covers. They have long been on my replacement list. I’m running 31x10.5” in the OEM spare carrier is there any reason to go with the full kit or are the HD hinges alone sufficient? Sounds...

HVAC Control Panel Part Number Verification

Contacted Mopar Parts and they confirmed it is 55037612AA, unfortunately it is back ordered until 2/2021. I order the cheapest option on Rock Auto to get by until then and installed it today using all of the existing wiring and it worked like a champ. Heat and air are blowing much better and...

HVAC Control Panel Part Number Verification

I’m need to replace my HVAC control panel and keep getting conflicting information on the numbers. Jeep is a 2004 Unlimited Morris shows it as part 55037473ab https://www.morris4x4center.com/mopar-ac-and-heater-control-unit-55037473ab-m.html MopaParts Online has it as 55037612AA...

    H&R 1” lift

It doesn’t look like I ever posted this. Top pic is factory springs bottom pic is the H&R springs and 5100s with a ¾” spacer up front. Tires are 31s. I’m about 1.5 years with this set up and am completely happy.
