I’ve got a magnaflow setup showing up tomorrow, didn’t wanted to mess around and order a flowmaster from some place and then get an email a day later saying it’s out of stock. I need it by tomorrow so I can replace it this weekend.

Beware, I put Magnaflow cats on my Xterra. Had codes or issues but the early 2nd Gen Xterras are known for catastrophic cat failure that is believed to destroy the rear cylinder on the side of the engine the Cat detonates on so I did it preemptively at 160-some-k miles. New O2 sensors and all.

Started throwing a code for PS cat. Email MF and they said "I should have repaired the issue with the engine when you replaced the cat." and refused to warranty it despite telling them repeatedly there was no issue, I changed them to AVOID an issue.

So now I'm out that money and will NEVER buy another.

I'm considering the aFe cats for the LJ since I'm popping warmup codes for both primary cats.

I'll keep that in mind, but I haven't seen any bad posts on magnaflow cats for our TJ/LJ's yet. I have seen poor customer serviced posts though.

Incidentally: I dont have any cat codes.. I have a cylinder #5 injector circuit - P0205 code... I put in a set of injectors, ran 120miles and then kicked out the code again.

I did do infrared temp tests and OBD OS2 sensor voltage monitoring...
Heat: 170-500 inlet on each pre-cat, with 400-650 outlet on precats... then on Main Cat; 290-340 inlet with 250-270 outlet...
Research concludes.. Main Cat bad.... and pre cats ok
Sensor Voltage: B1 and B2 same results... S1 0.8 - 0.05, S2 0.7 - 0.1 ( supposed to be steady 0.8-ish)
Research concludes... Pre-cats are bad..

ANY comments are welcome...

2005 LJ @ 168k (O2 sensors are 68k in use)

Update... performance is severely impacted with this issue.. truck will suddenly experience loss of power with a rythmic surge at some RPM level.. used to happen at 2200 limited to 2800, then started at 3200 limited to 4000k. Happens while driving or in park and when hot or cold... Thanks for your consideration

If you want to sell it, let me know. My front drive shaft hit my exhaust and smashed the crap out of it.

I'm in Reno, so can pick it up.

Dang that happened to mine too. I’m putting a spare on it and I’m a little nervous about it happening again.
