Well, I knocked Project One out. I’ve had the parts for the TR Flip since last summer, but I haven’t had the time or the machismo to do it. Mostly lacking machismo. I had Blaine’s undefeatable TR laying around. I finally said, “That's it. I’m doing it!” Get ready to laugh at my welds.

I had some trouble on the passenger side because the sway bar bracket was bent, so simply putting a plate and a couple of clamps there to align it wasn’t working. I had to improvise. I got it in place and got a tack on. Then it was easy.

The other issue was the tapered insert from TMR was tapered the reverse of the one in @hosejockey61 video. I had to weld it from the bottom.

After installing Blaine’s undefeatable TR, I aligned the Jeep 1/8” toe in at 24” off center. After steering test I had to clearance some more metal at the drivers side perch. I also shortened my arms some to get everything to play nicely together.

My biggest fear was the head of the drivers side Currie TR End hitting the rim. I have 4.25” BS. @FarFire70 it is so very close.

It is so close that when I went for a drive I immediately heard a repeating rotational sound. I looked and saw this! 🤣

It was nicking the wheel weights and had knocked 3 off!

I can’t do much with a welder, but there’s not much I can’t do with a grinder, so I went after that TR End.

I’m all clear now. I’m very happy. I just hope the welds hold. Final pic and a few others just for fun. 17.25” at the TR!

I had Blaine’s TR lying around painted and ready to go since last summer too. I finally just said, I’m doing it. I followed @hosejockey61 video on BFH Garage on YouTube. I highly recommend the excellent videos he does. If you haven’t stopped by, do so and subscribe to his channel.

Are you ready to laugh? Here are a few of my welds.

I’m thinking if I do one project a month I’ll at least knock out my top 3 welding projects.

In February I think I’ll do the raised frame mounts. I’ve got to modify my Savvy MUA C Bracket.

In the meantime I’m re-working a set of snow skis I picked up. They need a lot of love. I’ve already filled all the chipped and cracked fiberglass. I’ll be prepping and painting them to match the charcoal and red boots next weekend. They’ll be mostly charcoal and red with silver and black accents that follow the factory design. The poles are black and red. It will all match my Jeep. 🙂

I’m also building a rack to mount to my cargo carrier so I can carry them outside the vehicle. It’s another welding project. I’m done with most, if not all the welding. I’ll post some pics later.

Are you going to use the smaller body mounts or keep existing?

Ah, I totally forgot about that. I need to find that information. I’ll check BFH Garage. Thank you for reminding me! I’ll need to get some on order.

EDIT: at 14:45 you get into it. Rear body mounts, dimpling, and lower profile bolt. I think I already have 2 rear body mounts in my attic stash. I’m seeing a definite for the 2 middle body mounts. I’ll check delivery times for the others. Thanks again for the reminder

My oldest daughter has been wanting some bookshelves. Space is limited, so I’m building two small corner bookshelves. The lowest shelf is 14” for large books, then a 12” and those at the top are all 10”. I haven’t done any wood projects in a few years since the Jeep took over my hobby life. It’s amazing how much easier it seems now after all the Jeep projects you guys have walked me through. I still need to build some bases and add the trim, but these are turning out nice. Wood prices are crazy. There’s about $300 in 3/4” birch, some trim, and a 2x4” just in these shelves and paint. 🙄 I picked up another 10” Diablo 60T fine trim blade for my mitre cuts.

I needed another grease gun, as it’s a hassle having just one, and I wanted something better than the parts store crap I have. I took @Blackjack advice, read about the Lincoln and Alemite, and picked up an Alemite. It’s the little things in life.

I wish I could find one that doesn’t leak. So far in about 32 years of owning them I haven’t found one. 😂 Most have been parts store versions but a couple years ago I bought a couple LockNLube guns and while it operates great, it still leaks some when laying around for a while.

Lets us know how this one does after some time.

Mine leak all over the place too. SO frustrating.

I think it is just the nature of the beast with grease guns but I have found that using a pistol grip gun and hanging it up seems to keep leaking to a minimum.

Bookshelves are almost done. Just need to fill all the holes and paint. My daughters birthday is Wednesday. She’s oblivious to any happenings in the garage. 🤣 I doubt I’ll be done. I hate painting with a brush or roller.
