It’s quite normal, even for many body shops. I briefly mention how to remove it at the end of the video. There are several more steps I don’t mention, but essentially wet sanding in increments from 1000 up to 3200.
As mentioned in the video, if you are satisfied with the sample I show, then it can be done.
If you want better, and as good as a body shop, just color buff and sand. It will look better than most factory paint jobs.

Older resto’s require orange peel to be proper. Very difficult to master. For ours, just matching factory is our goal, and there is orange
peel from factory.That’s a 4’x8’ rack that I bought to get some storage and usually, what’s hanging beneath on hooks are 5 bikes!

Pretty much anytime. So far I'm pleased with how everything is working.

The doors would be much better if the panels were flat. The PO who welded the skin to the frame warped them in a couple of places.
Here’s how the vent portion of the GR fenders turned out.
Some things don’t go as planned. It takes a lot of work to get 2K off. They’re getting a re-paint now.
Trail door paddles all better. The color will tone down. They’re satin black
The trail doors were not entirely flat panels because the guy who welded the skin to the TJ Soft Door frame welded on both sides of the frame in two spots. Apparently he didn’t wait for it to cool, a very basic rule in welding. They could have been much better if they were perfectly flat. One is near perfect. The other is noticeably got warpage! It’s ok, they’re trail doors!

Once they're installed you'll hardly ever have to look at the warped door. Your door is nearly perfect.
Read a thread years ago on Challenger forum of guys comparing their home paint jobs vs others pro jobs — Both had orange peel.
It was a question on the depth and visibility of that peel. Like you said - factory jobs have it too. Best effort to distort the effects.
Enjoying watching your job paint jobs. I'm working towards painting more than flat black spray jobs on skids & frame...
