Why not? You took a variable output moderate power vacuum based system and converted to high power non variable force hydraulic and are now overpowering a crappy caliper. The only way to improve pedal feel is to sacrifice braking or make yourself work harder to kill the spongy pedal.

Strap in! We are going for a ride! So are you telling me a big break kit is the only way to get decent brakes?

No, not the only way but you have to work within the parameters of what is going on. Some rigs stop on 35's just fine, some aren't safe on 33's so you have to fix what you have. With all you've done and tested, it seems obvious that got everything but the brakes themselves working as good as they can, now it's time to fix the problem. I would suggest a set of better pads as a test to see if the stock brakes are salvageable.

When you swing through here in April, I have everything we need to solve your problem one way or another and I'll be able to tell what is going on after a test drive and some face time with the rig. After that I can swap stuff on to show you and let you make up your own mind.

I'll let you know dates as soon as I can figure them out! Once again that's for the help.
Now back to the originally scheduled thread.;) I do figure everybody is getting an education here.

Decided to drive it to work. Was iffy at first,but it went ok. Did 75mph. Still needs shocks on the rear.

The first time it was on the highway in 9 months. Thoughts of it flying apart crossed my mind. Mainly the spooled rear axle with no shocks. And no sway bars at all. But I cranked it up to 75-80 for a half mile and no shakes.


I think it woke me up at 5:30am, then it settled down

Boy can I ever relate to this. I woke up in the middle of the night with the shakes after burying the speedo needle on a Stinger test run!
 
Tomorrow hitting the RTI ramp and get it dialed for Saturday. Big event at Kansas rocks recreational park.

I will . I've gotta unbolt my current jk rubi shocks so I can get full flex potential.

Rear axle is bottoming out, a few things I didn't account for.

Either flip my u-bolts over and run them down or notch the frame.
