2002 Jeep Wrangler p0740 code bad harness

Hey guys so I just swapped out my transmission on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L automatic with a used one that came from a reliable source.
Two days after changing it out I got code p0740
I noticed the automatic wire harness was in bad shape and all wires were basically exposed, I tried to separate them individually and did a full repair on the harness but the jeep is still throwing the code. I barely got it passed smog as soon as it passed the light came on. The transmission came from a very reliable local source and shifts smooth. My plan is to change the tranny fluid out this weekend, drop the pan and swap out the solenoid from my old one which Im certain is still functional Im gonna use ATF +4 with mopar filter. Its impossible to find a transmission wire harness though where do I get one? Before I drop the pan I would like to find a new harness to at least mark that off. The TCC wires were touching. Literally all transmission wires were exposed and touching each other before I fixed them. Its never thrown a code before the transmission change. I just had my ecu/pcm repaired before changing out the transmission. Im hoping that the wires touching didnt damage the unit again but I imagine that could be a possibility. Anyone got any ideas? Has this code popped up for you before and what did you do?

Most likely you’ll get someone who knows what they’re talking about(not me) tomorrow as most forum members are dreaming right now.
My bet is our local TJ gurus @mrblaine or @Jerry Bransford can help you find a transmission wire harness or steer you in the right direction.

I see a lot of Jerry's posts he's the man for sure! He's helped me out with a lot. I just bought a complete wire harness off ebay im gonna see if that fixes the issue. I asked the mechanic if I should get a new torque converter he said no cause it was a used transmission. When I reset the code it doesn't come on unless I drive it a lot I imagine when it gets too hot? The code stays pending then turns on after a long car ride. I got the harness coming though you can see how the wires looked in the pic I imagine the whole harness is shot. gets pretty hot down there. Same with the TCC wires they were bare and touching.

Problem fixed it was my belt tensioner pulley. It went bad I had no clue it wasn’t overheating or making noise I changed it and issue went away so if you’re getting code I would check that

When you changed the ATF in the transmission; what color was the fluid ?
Was it pink, pinkish brown or brown ?

From the dipstick it was red but when I dropped the pan the mopar filter was dark and there was Debis in the pan. That was on the first change. The second change I did it was red and no metal shavings or ware noticed. the tcc cable was solid the transmission came from a reliable source. I did a second change in a week and the second time I changed the fluid the filter was still dark, I have a deep pan but overall it was clean and a lot different from the first change. Keep in mind I just had my torque converter go out previously before putting in the new tranny as well as transfer case. I just kept getting the code and noticed the fan spinning slower than usual I just put a new clutch fan in it as well. I decided to change the belt tensioner because that is the only thing I haven't changed in years. I changed every sensor with updated mopar sensors its basically a brand new jeep for a 2002 by now. When I did that it purrs quiet like a kitten shifts like a dream no check engine light on anymore. Observing the tensioner the wheel was fried didnt spin freely but made no sound weird. Idk im no mechanic but 90 percent of the problems on this jeep I fixed myself majority of them thanks to Jerry! I love my jeep!
