2006 Rubicon wont start

I spoke to @trdarunie on the phone today and I am not convinced he has a pcm issue. He has none of the typical symptoms of a faulty manual pcm.

He has some sirt of aftermarket alarm/door opener that could be an issue. He has a black key which means the sentry system isn’t the issue (skim CAN be enabled with irregular voltage spikes.)

My best suggestion was to send it into us and we will check it in our 05 6 speed to rule out pcm altogether as a courtesy.

That’s my .02 cents. 👍🏻

He said the engine turns over but does not start.

Are you getting fuel to the throttle body? Bad pump relay?

The engine with the key itself will not turn over at all. 0 noise clicking nothing. When we towed the Jeep putting it in 2nd gear and then letting the clutch out trying to bump start it the engine does turn over but makes 0 sound or any kind of attempt to start.

We tested the ground wires on block and battery terminals and have continuity

The engine does not turn over with the key. It makes 0 noise clicks or anything. So I don't believe starter fluid would do anything. Earlier in a post I mentioned we towed the Jeep and put it in 2nd gear to try to bump start but the engine makes 0 noise like it is going to start but indeed it does turn over.

My actuator pin looks real good. No crack or anything on the square tubular part where I've seen them fail. I greatly appreciate your thoughts and ideas. I'm hoping someone can tell me absolutely my PCM or ECU or The brain of the Jeep is bad before I spend lots of money and ti'm getting a new one.

It appears to me you have you heart set on replacing the PCM. Personally, I doubt it is the problem but perhaps you are right. So replace it and you should be happy…..or not.

You are not diagnosing the problem correctly although I have no doubt you are trying to the best of your ability. Unfortunately you are making it very difficult to help you because certain things need to happen in diagnosing a problem and then the results analyzed for solutions. That’s not happening so I don’t know how to help you. I do wish you well and I’m sorry you are having so much trouble. Good luck

need to check if you have fuel and spark before going any further. check the simple things first, if they’re good move forward and look at other things.

Well, 1st I checked the simple things fuses and relays then went to the clutch safety switch and everything checked clear. Then I tore into my Ignition key area and check the mechanical parts, they turn and are not cracked or Showing where. Then the electronic portion of the Ignition I bought a new one put it in no success. Next we towed the Jeep because we have no hill. That was bump starting and the motor turns over but does not make a sound like it wants to start. Had A mobile mechanic come out and he checked all of the electronics and could find no issue other than my fuse Box under the hood is not ground
So I was hoping one of the readers on this form wood no what causes that. You reply that I'm not systematically testing my Jeep. I greatly appreciate what I should do different? Ted 3038298603

You keep mentioning that the fuse box under the hood is not grounded. If you are referring to the PDC (power distribution center), I don’t believe the PDC itself is grounded. There are certainly individual ground circuits going through the PDC, but that’s it.

Someone check my math here - is this correct?

Thank you, that's new information to us. I thought that the Box on the right side of my Jeep near the battery that holds all of the fuses and all of the relays was supposed to be grounded in some way. Maybe one of the ground wires on my negative side of the battery is a little corroded and not making a connection? It visually looks real clean but we know that doesn't mean it's a 100% good

Get a jumper wire. Connect it to the solenoid start terminal (it’s the little spade type terminal on the starter). Run the wire up to the battery and touch it to the positive terminal. Does the starter spin the engine?

When you turn the key to run, do all your dash lights light up like normal?

Have you load tested your battery?
