I installed a ATOTO Double din Android type radio and wanted to use the Torque OBD2 application. I bought a OBD2 BLUETHOOTH device to communicate with it and tried it out today. I went on a 180 mile trip to test it out. In the below photo you can see the results, I'm not really sure i believe it. I set up the display to read 6 things.
Top left is instantaneous MPG, middle top is avg MPG, top right is engine load
bottom left is GPS altitude, middle bottom is GPS speed, bottom right is OBD2 speed. The reason they are different is the jeep has 31" tires and the gearing hasn't been changed, so the real speedometer reads about 10% slow.
The top middle gauge shows the average MPG is 28.1, hard to believe. But whenever i check it when i fill the tank i always get 21 to 22 MPG. That is without adding on the extra 10% because the mileage showing on the trip readout is 10% low. So add approx 10% is 2 mpg so when i figure it out the MPG is about 23 to 24 mpg.
I got the jeep for my 75 birthday a few months ago and it was getting 18 MPG then, but i changed the plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, air filter, etc.
