A/C issue advice

Took to a shop and they replaced a valve and it vacuum tested good, refilled the freon, and both hot and cold side holding, but at idle, the hot side is getting high and he said its boiling the freon. He said adding a electric fan is the fix and the compressor is probably failing.

As much air as the mechanical fan moves, I would think that its maybe the fan clutch and probably the compressor and condenser. Id rather fix the problem than just adding another part to the mix (electric fan). Haven't seen or heard of alot of 4.0l needing more fan than the mechanical, for cooling or the AC to work properly.

If the orifice tube was clogged, it could spike the high side and, IIRC, it would drop the low side.

I think I'd make sure you aren't overcharged before throwing parts at it if you are going high on both sides.

If your fan clutch is working correctly, no more airflow is needed.

Be sure your condenser and radiator are free of mud, leaves, etc.

He might be only half stupid. Forget the dumb electric fan BS.
p.s. When I have to take my Jeep to a mechanic, they actually fix it or DON'T get paid. That's their job.
