Air filter lid clip found

Found a perfect match for my 1998 TJ air filter box clip.

I went to quirkparts on eBay, sold as a 14-19 Grand Cherokee Durango Air filter housing upper cover lip clip OEM Mopar $6.91 not counting tax.

That's awesome! I was looking for new ones back in July and couldn't find any, so I just cleaned and re-painted mine (I went with red so that a quick glance confirms that they are in place.)

FYI - I looked up the MOPAR part number. It's 68148071AA, and the MSRP was listed as $1.60. If you need a full set, your local dealer is probably the cheapest option due to shipping costs...

Oh, yeah, one other tip: if you are a rock collector or reload ammunition and own a rotary tumbler, using it with stainless steel media will remove rust and polish the clips up for paint really well! It also works for most fasteners.

Not that I'm sure I want to take this approach, but you've got me curious. I do have a rock tumbler. What do I put in it to clean rust off parts? "Stainless Steel Media", is that a thing?

I'm a reloader, and my wife is a jewelry artist, so I used her media instead of mine, as it's more general-purpose. Reloaders use the pins because they polish primer pockets really well.

I wish I had pics of before I painted them to show you. They were very well polished and ready to paint (after an acetone rinse). They did require paint, though. Simply polishing them would have allowed them to rust again very quickly.

I usually have a spare because any time I have to pull an airbox out of a TJ (such as if I'm dealing with a stubborn upper shock mount nut on the passenger side), I remove the clip that's down in between the box and the power distribution center. I can never get enough finger in there to get that clip to engage so it's useless. The filter box is plenty tight and sealed up with that one missing.

I just realized that I forgot to add the "recipe" for the liquid that goes with the stainless steel media (don't use it dry). It's water with Dawn dishwashing detergent and Lemi Shine (it's a citrus booster found in most places that sell Dawn). For one gallon of water, I use 1 or 2 tablespoons of Dawn and 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi Shine. Works great!
