I was in wood products for years and always jumped at the chance to go on mill tours. I've given many myself. Some mills will give tours to the public if you call up and ask.
Once on vacation in Montana I called the local sawmill and arranged a tour for me and my father-in-law. He had never seen anything like it and was absolutely blown away.
