From all the research I've done, this echoes the sentiments of the majority of them. The Nazis were terrible, but the communists were even worse.

The fatal fallacy is accepting the you have to choose one or the other. I reject both and refuse to accept the "us or them" framing that is used by both sides. Yes, right now (and for quite a while) most of the authoritarian power is on the left, but the push for authoritarianism is growing rapidly on the right. Accepting this framing is like deciding if you want someone to break your left leg or right leg. What a stupid choice.

Hitler/fascism isn't the opposite of Stalin/communism. They're both destructive, evil authoritarians.
Black Nationalism isn't the opposite of White Nationalism. They're both racist, violent ideologies.
The Bloods aren't the opposite of the Crypts. They're both criminal gangs/organized crime.
Trump isn't the opposite of Clinton/Obama. They all care more about their own power than what's legal and good for the country.

Sorry folks, pinning your hopes on a single charismatic leader to save us is feebleminded and un-American. Idolizing politicians is the last thing we need. It never ends well.

What’s sad is that we are still living in this type of environment where you have to choose between two parties and simply pick the lesser of two evils. I despise most Republicans. In fact, on the federal level I can count on probably two hands the number of Republicans that are actually good. The test are just slightly more palatable Democrats.

This is EXACTLY what I've been saying for years - although Trump is the best thing to happen to the country in my lifetime. Doesn't mean he's perfect, he went with a Christianist for his Veep for one thing - and that didn't work out well. But the fact that both the GOP and the Dem establishments hate him goes a long way with me!

But as I've been shouting about for years: BOTH parties are parties of slavery, "Choose the form of the distructor..." If people had ethics, they'd vote Libertarian or as Libertarian as they could (Not necessarily to be confused with the party of the same name that has shifted left in recent years). But people don't want true freedom - they don't even know what that really is - see the "Baby Store" thread - people only want "fair masters" who agree with them and keep "those kind of people" under control.
