I wouldn't be surprised if they self destructed it.

They did... The booster lost 7 of it's engines, (showed it on video) then when th email rocket was supposed to separate from the booster something went wrong and it started flying erratically so they triggered it to self destruct. Musk's team described it as a “rapid unscheduled disassembly”....
