I had a similar situation for real with a national car rental company. I went to the counter and was told there would be a 20% surcharge for "counter support". I asked WTF they were talking about and the guy said they had moved to 100% online reservations and payments for car rentals. I literally took out my phone and made a reservation in front of the guy. 30 secs later he gets a beep and asks my name. I told him and he handed me the keys. What a load of cr*p.

I stopped at a hotel a few years ago and the sign said $99.00 a night so I parked and walked in. The guy asked if I had a reservation and I said no he said the room would be $119.00. I said your sign says $99 he replied that’s if you make a reservation through there system ahead of time Ok do I got on my cell phone and called the number made the reservation, what a PIA but saved $20 in two minutes

Also walked into a Starbucks last year to
Order a coffee they asked did I order online I said no. The guy replied we are an online store only. He said I needed download the app created a username and password then place th order and it would be ready in a few. I asked can’t I just order and pay you
He said nope , then I said nope on
The order and walked out
