I was stuck in the high end English classes because I knew my grammar. I didn't do well there because the classes where emphasizing the WHY of it, and I didn't see the point. OTOH, when I started learning modern Greek as an adult, I then understood the need for WHY, as I wasn't a native speaker and didn't have a native speaker's instincts.

I didn't help that my 1st semester sophomore composition class was taught by the biggest absolute BITCH teacher in the school. I've seen any number of unstable English teachers (and school band directors - they're usually a little "off"), yet I got on fine with all of them until this one. Her name even rhymed with "Bitch". She hated that class, and we hated her. I worked my ass off and got a D+. The second semester, she got rid of the class! We got a new teacher, someone who everybody loved - I kicked back and got a B+!!

California Senate candidate Rep. Adam Schiff was given a rude welcome to San Francisco on Thursday as he was reportedly a victim of a carjacking just hours before a ritzy campaign dinner.

According to The San Francisco Chronicle, thieves broke into his car that was parked in a downtown parking garage and stole his bags. Without business clothes to wear, Schiff still proceeded to the event in shirt sleeves and a hiking vest, according to the Chronicle, with others dressed in suits.

At the dinner, Schiff thanked attorney Joe Cotchett for supporting Schiff’s bid to replace the late Dianne Feinstein and represent California in the U.S. Senate.

"I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco,’" joked Cotchett’s press agent Lee Houskeeper, who was at the dinner at Ristorante Rocca, located in Burlingame.

During his own remarks, Schiff was reportedly unperturbed by the theft.

"Yes, they took my bags," the California representative said, per the Chronicle. "But I’m here to thank Joe."

This is exactly why my wife won't let me drive anymore. Every trip there would eventually be a gasp or scream. Also doesn't like how fast I drive. Definitely a back seat driver and that makes me angry quickly. After me screaming back at her and a few arguments, she finally decided she was going to drive EVERY TIME.

I’m in the exact same boat. She hates my driving and I hate her complaining so we switched. The way I see it, this way I can drink anytime we go out.
