I'm not so sure. We think we're in this mess because of the Soviet Union and the cold war... Had we defeated them we'd had to have found a new foe to keep the machine running. The idea that we were going to get blown up at any minute if we didn't vote right or believe the right thing was a product of our own country... not another one.

The Soviets didn't make me hide under my desk and tell me an atomic bomb was going to kill me every school day for 10 years. The US government did. We blamed them for propaganda routinely while writing scripts for Hollywood movies to keep everyone scared and in line. The younger generation saw it earlier than most in the 60's with Vietnam and most are just now beginning to see it 30 years after the Soviet Union fell apart.

It took me until my late 20's to question it.
