Sadly, this type of thing is probably more common than not.
Those who glamorize this BS gloss over realities.
There is an entire sub-Reddit devoted to this sort of thing. It's both sick, sad, and humorous (but mostly sad) that this is even a thing.
I had a 'net acquaintance who went through the whole monty. S/he said that s/he had to use some kind of dilator doo-dah daily, otherwise the constructed vagina would heal itself shut. It seems to be a pretty darn miserable existence, although s/he claimed s/he was happy. S/he disappeared into Bulgaria somewhere many years ago, haven't heard from hir since.
That's fine, I wasn't planning on going there ever again anyway. Fuck Disney.
