I actually think about that a lot...
I thought it was a dumb move, but almost necessary to keep US chip manufacturing… perhaps a necessary evil.
I like that they didn’t just give them money, but rather “invested” … if Intel can dig out of the hole, the US’s “investment” should pay gains back to the government and hopefully back to the tax payer …
I don’t see it as socialized chips, rather, I see it as a manditory investment … it may work out well, or it may fail miserably… we shall see. Intel needs to figure their stuff out !!!
Today it's Intel... in 3 years it could Kroeger or Albertsons. Or a apartment company... or a gun manufacturer... Normalizing this will come back the next time the D's are in charge.
I don't pay taxes for Trump to pick my investments. Intel is a failing company. It's just another way to do a bailout. Let them fail and a new innovative company will take it's place. Bail them out and we will always have dead wood around.
